I tell a story—that’s pretty much how I sell stuff!
You have to understand that people make sense of the world based on stories.
Every single second, we perceive all sorts of stuff; all these signals hit us at the rate of 1000 miles per hour.
We’re picking up all sorts of signals—we see, hear, touch, taste, and smell—and all that good stuff.
But when it comes to our minds, that's just basically “white noise.”
When you tell a story, you weave everything together—not just in terms of the things that people are currently experiencing, but they actually tie this stuff in to the things that they think they know.
I'm talking about their memories.
So when you work with this very powerful dynamic of how people perceive and create their own personal reality, you're able to sell stuff—and it doesn’t matter if you're selling something weird or not!
But if you are looking to sell something that is unusual, you might want to consider storytelling.
Because this way, something that is unconventional can easily be positioned, based on an attention-grabbing story, to something that people would be more familiar with because, at the end of the day, people buy based on benefits.
So when you are selling something that seems weird on the surface but actually brings familiar benefits to the table, you might just have yourself a sale.
