    Hi guys,

This question may sound a bit stupid but I really need to improve myself.
I don't know how to properly brief a copywriter. I am only using copywriters for my Money site and asking for articles / reviews. I was wondering if everyone was using a template (bullet points) that match with the copywriter expectations. Also, if there is any copywriter around who could provide some insights, that would be awesome.
How do you organize your brief?
What would be the "must have" a copywriter needs in order to understand the mission?
Do you give a link of your website? Do you provide articles example from your competitors?

Hope my question makes sense :)

From my experience I can tell you, the more information you give the guy, the better.
Give him the pitch of a competitor you like, tell him everything about the product (obviously),
    tell him about the market.

What are people's fears, what are their hopes and dreams, what does the perfect solution
look like to them, how do they suffer from the problem.

In short, there' s fact part (important) and there' s the emotional aspect (vital).
You should cover both as otherwise the guy needs to do research from the ground up
and it will take a whole lot longer.

Here's a recent job posting we've used, which also is basically a brief for the copywriter. It also includes bullet points for what we look for / require form copy writers. Covers most of your questions. Feel free to use this or edit it to fit your specific jobs.

Blog Post Writing on [Subject] - $x.xx per 100 words

We are seeking writers to put together blog posts of [length] on a variety of topics.

You will be provided with an .xlsx spreadsheet that contains topics and keywords for blog posts. We will fund you the amount for three articles to be delivered within two days. Provided that the quality of that work is satisfactory, we will fund you the amount for the rest of the set.

You will be provided with the titles/topics for the articles and keywords to include, as well as any general notes about what to include in certain articles.

Deadline for completion of the full set is 16 days from the time of accepting the project, so this is roughly two blog articles to be written per day. Quicker delivery is always appreciated and accepted. If you finish quickly, you may be offered more work.

All rights for any blog posts written belong exclusively to us.

    Requirements:
    * Include all keywords in the content
    * 100% Unique - Each and every article should be written from scratch without reusing sections of other posts. Using quotes, facts, statistics etc. from outside sources is fine as long as it is indicated where the information was pulled from. Hyperlinks to relevant information are also acceptable in moderation. Do not link to competitors in our niche; links to informative sources, such as news articles, wikipedia, etc. are fine. Use moderation with any quotes, etc.
    * Send as .doc/.docx/.txt
    * Save with the main keyword as the file name
    * Bold or underline keywords
    * All projects should include some headings using the "Heading 3" option in Word/Libreoffice/Google Drive/other
    * Include title exactly as listed at the start of the post. For example, if the title given is "Good Purple Widgets" have the title be exactly like that. Avoid changing it to something like "Great Purple Widgets" or "Purple Widgets are Good." Title of the post has to match the title provided in the instructions exactly

You must speak English as a first language.

These blog posts are to be posted on a website for a company that sells [niche]. Will send a link to the website upon receiving your application.

The "Post Title" field is the title of the post and therefore the subject of the post. Please use the title of the post somewhere in the page. Most of the post should focus on answering/discussing the topic in the "Post Title" field. At the end of the post, encourage readers to order/purchase relevant goods/services from the company. E.g., a post about how to clean your widgets would encourage the readers to buy widget cleaning solution at the end.

The spreadsheet indicates how many words to include per article in the "Word Count" column (minimum - more is fine).

Also included with this job posting is an example of similar work done by another contractor. Comments are included in the margin about some of the requirements for the project.

Please include a sample of your previous writing with your application.

Thanks in advance to everyone who applies for this job.

This is exactly what I am missing, the emotional aspect.
I am focusing too much on the content I want with the keywords I want. I will be more customer focus.
    Thank you

I provide all my writers with a checklist of what they should do including SEO.
Considering fact that everyone pretends to be 'I know SEO' (I don't mean mod), my checklist has all points and explanations making even stupid person optimize article and have it written exactly as it needs to be.
