The UK government has been promising over the last few years to bring in legislation for UK porn sites etc to authenticate their users ie KYC that they are over 18. Due to a recent change in the British prime minister, this has again been abandoned as the government goes 'red tape lite'.As i said in opening post at least one of the websites is UK hosted and registered. Where the laws do apply.
This was to achieved by sites asking for peoples credit card details. There is no legal requirement for someone to have an ID card in the UK or carry Id on them.
As an aside I was working for a UK government department a few years ago and they were considering letting people authenticate themselves online for UK government services via Google and Facebook.
This quickly died a death and they now use the post office and credit agencies.
