How do video sites make so much money when bandwith costs so much?

    How do companies, especially funny video sites make money when bandwidth is quite expensive? (compared to how many people click on ads.)

    I've got a video site but bandwith is costing too much.

    Companies like College Humor and etc don't rely on google ads, they have exclusive deals with big marketing companies that manage the publicity for big companies like universal,coca cola and etc

    So basically they way more money!

    And bandwidth doesn't cost so much, if you deal with resellers/distributors they will make you pay for the volume, but if you deal directly with big hosting companies or datacenters you will pay only for speed and maintenance costs (electricity, monitoring, human interventions if you are doing co-location).

    I think often they don't make many money. I heard that many video site are not that profitable. Especially sites with nonserious video content.
    Because for them its hard to find advertising partner.

    Just my guess...
