I often receive automated messages from my friend which say
"lol, I just got ipod from www.domain.com"
    or
"check my newest picture at www.blabla.com"

Obviously their computer is infected by virus or some sort which automatically send message to their friend. How can we do this also? What tools we need to do this?

I am interested to do this because we can easily get traffic to our site and monetize it.

Sorry if this is a noobish or lame question, just say so :).

It may not be a virus that does this. There is a program for skype which you can make the text in your profile blink in different colors. But also it sends messages to your contacts.Example Hello if you want your text to blink in different colors visit
    domain.com

Though I suppose it's possible for some of those messages to come from a computer infected with a virus, it's more than likely just a messenger bot. Bodeezy has a pretty good Yahoo chat / IM bot. Just fire it up and spam away any affiliate link you wish, but sex usually sells best with that type of approach. Freebies (ps3, xbox, iphone) apparently work well, too.
