Social bookmark the article should do the trick, some sites won't accept EZA (most pligg sites won't accept it) but there tons other that still accept articles.
Plus submit the RSS of your EZA profile.

Pinging and social bookmarking doesn't help that much with article views IMO. Maybe some extra backlinks which is useful when you're on the 2nd page of google.

The reason why some articles get a ton of views while others don't is because these articles are ranking on the first page of Google for keywords/phrases that bring a good amount of traffic.

There are many ways to increase views... using twitter to send traffic, stumbleupon etc. but you should really be concerned with optimizing your resource box & content for the best possible CTR. Some people can get up to 70%, which is incredible for article marketing.

Yes, the resource box is very powerful!

Here are a couple of suggestions:
Instead of writing, "I am so and so, to read my other stuff, click here"
You could write "To download a great report on(whatever your subject is), visit here"
Give them a reason to go visit your site!

Or you could have a two part article and have the first half sent to the article directory and the second half on your blog/website.
"To read the rest of this article, please visit my website"

Always find a reason for them to come visit your site, that is the main reason for the resource box, get them to click it.

I know this is not a way to get more views of your articles, but a great way to have them visit your website.

You could also use autosurf or buy cheap traffic
