How do paid slots on PBN's compare to the power of having your own?

I've been wondering... how exactly does the power of a paid PBN slot compare to that of having your own PBN? I have my own small PBN, and I've paid for a lot of slots over the months... but I've never really been able to compare the effects of the two against each other. I would assume that your own would be better to have, BUT is it possible that the growing size, to spite the extra outgoing backlinks, makes the paid PBN's better due to their larger size and (most likely) more SEO being pointed to them?

I've often considered this question of volume of links vs the dilution of links by way of high OBL. I haven't formed an opinion on it yet - I have made no attempt to 'test' the maximum effective number of links that I can have going out from my PBN sites. It's easier just to put more PBN sites online...

PBN's that you don't own do work but usually for a limited time. Think about the business model that the sellers have. They need to get as much posts made as possible to increase their income. Thus, sites just get spammed hard over and over again with everything you can think of.

Eventually that catches up to the network owners.

Homepage links though are different story and what I focus on if I buy links.

Building out your own PBN is obviously going to give you better results if you compare the same number of sites/backlinks because you are not sharing the juice. But that's not why people buy slots on these public networks - they do this because they are far far cheaper so where you might be able to get your own network up to 10 sites, you could get maybe a hundred links from other sellers for the same price.

So comparing one with the other can only be done given a fixed amount of money you'd like to spend. I haven't tested this but I'd imagine they public networks would actually work slightly better because of the variety in anchor text you could use and the sheer number of linking root domains you can acquire but the risk factor is way way higher and I'd not personally take that risk when I know I can build slow and steady and win the race in the end.

That's my take on it anyway...

That does make sense, more links are always better... but I wonder how bad the high OBL eats away at the value. For $200 I can buy 30 PBN links, but for that same $200 I could build out 5 of my own. So my own links would have to be roughly 6x more useful than the paid ones. It's possible... I'm surprised that nobody has run a test.

In the long run your own network will be useful. If backlinks are not enough you could, if you so choose you could start selling links from it as well to earn from it. More versatile then just buying one off packages.

Ya but your own PBN has way less risk of getting you a penalty.

And you can use your own PBN to link to another of your money site.
If you use someone else PBN, you will pay twice.

Having your own PBN adds 100% relevancy assuming you keep the content on the domains relevant to your money site(s). On a PBN slot you'll be next to articles that are not 100% dedicated to your topic. Apparently this is a bad thing but I do perfectly fine using my general PBN to rank sites in diff. niches.

You can actually calculate it very easily. PageRank distribution is divided by the number of OBL's on a page, so if the PBN owner is allowing 20 links and you get 30 posts, that's (30 x 1/20) = 1.5.

Or you could have 5 PBN sites that link to your money site 3 times each (homepage and two inner pages) = (5 x 1) = 5. As you can see, since 100% of the PR is being directed to your money site from the PBN you own, you are getting way more juice.

    Hello,

You have a valid question. I am myself a service provider who offers high pr blog posts. But having your own PBN is always better, here are a few reasons why:

    1. If the network gets banned or punished, you stay safe.
    2. There are too many links of different sites on the same page, if one is detected by google. You get punished too.

Own PBN is very good for a long run but it costs good amount of money.

    I hope this helps.

    Cheers!

Private blog networks are easy to assemble if you play your cards right. You can have ability to rank whenever you want. As all others said, the links will be in your control completely. No one can discover your PBN if it's setup in the correct way.

As long as its done with a purpose and not just spam you should be fine, make sure you do not leave a footprint behind that links the blogs together. You can easily dominate Google in low/medium competition niches.
