I have been posting to an AA list but for 20K list it is taking 18 hours, how can I reduce this or can't I?

Increase the number of connections or/and reduce the time out period

If you are using proxies for posting it might be worth investing in better ones.

Just increase the number of connections for fast poster if you want to speed up to post. But I would advise to keep it at 50 to 150 to get a good success rate. Hope you are using VPS for SB otherwise you wont be able to use SB with full capacity

Is about 1000 backlinks an hour too slow for you?

1 backlink/3.6seconds is awfully slow. People are doing like 10k comments in the same period.

OP, increase connections, reduce timeout and have more proxies at hand because some will fail faster.

Run some tests using various numbers of threads. Finding the sweet spot for your pc/server will help alot.
