On the FAQ page under "How do I sell something on this forum?" it says:

    Please read this thread.
    and the link goes to
    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/buy-sell-trade/117188-buy-sell-trade-rules.html
    which gives the following
    :wt:

Is it just me or does everyone get this?

I am not trying to sell anything but rather was curious what the rules/procedure, etc was.
But what if I was trying to sell something - HOW could I?

    Seems it needs FIXING.

    HTH .... :cool2:

Contact HaRRo or Pofecker and tell them what you want to sell.
You will need to give them a review copy. They will then either
approve it or deny it. If they approve it, then you will pay a
nominal fee ($30 I believe) and then you are good to go.

Thanks Wiz but that's not the gist - I was reporting the error in the system that
gives the user the error message instead of the proper info.

    i.e. broken link/programming/whatever.

Perhaps I should have used a better subject/title. (can't change after posting)
    (feel free to change)

Look on the left hand side of the screen. You will see a tab services for sale or items for sell. Once you open that up you will see a post by Harro about what you need to do to post your item as well what your not able to post.

What he is trying to say is:" buy sell trade rules link is not working". So if a member cannot see the rules (cause the link is broken) how can they sell anything.

He is just pointing to the issue and wondering if he is the only one who is having technical difficulties viewing the bts rules link, or is the link broken. :)

Answer : I cant see the rules too.

Yeah, I get the same message you do. That link must go to an old rules thread that got deleted or something.

Untill that issue gets fixed, if you want to sell something just do as billsboardonline suggested. Go into one of the BST threads and look at the sticky threads "How to sell your services", and "New Selling Rule" by HaRRo.

    edit-
@popzzz - On a side note, what's the deal with the oversized bold green text? It hurts my eyes everytime I come across one of your posts. It feels like your shouting at us whenever you post. lol

Now you've brought up another/different/new issue - there is NOT a 'sticky' "by Harro about what you need to do to post your item as well as what your not able to post" in the BST.

Pasted below are ALL the 'stickies' that are there:

    • Please Read: How To Use iTrader (illustrated)
      Diamond Dave
    • Please Read: WARNING: Do NOT Hijack Peoples' For Sale Threads!
      havokb8
    • Please Read: New Buy, Sell or Trade applications on HOLD
      Pofecker
Pofecker's thread from 03/08/2010 is closed with no update - wonder if they're still on hold.

Also thanks to everyone for the help in this (was simple) thread that seems to be getting thicker.

That's weird. When I click on the "Services For Sale" link this is what I get. The sticky threads "How to sell your services", and "New Selling Rule" by HaRRo are right at the top of the list.

edit - OK it looks like you were looking in the "Buy, Sell, Trade" subforum. That's where the sticky threads you described are. It's kind of weird because you can only get there by clicking on the Main Forums, going to the Marketplace and then clicking on the Buy, Sell, Trade subforum.

If you go to the main menu on the left though and scroll down you can go to the "Items For Sale" or "Services For Sale" links, that's where the sticky threads you need to read are. Seems kind of weird, but that's where you need to look. LOL

It has something to do with the weird navigation here on BHW that I've noticed every since joining and never took the time to figure out.

Instead of going to the SAME page no matter where you are (the way it should be) you go to DIFFERENT pages DEPENDING on where you are when you start.

Makes no sense and leads to confusion and fustercluck IMHO!

My attached image shows the URL and the stickies.

    EDIT:
I see what the difference is now - GreyWolf's image was from clicking on "Services for sale" which is the Buy/Sell Services and mine was from clicking on "Items for sale" which is the Buy, Sell or Trade or the BST that everyone refers to.

I think the weird navigation actually has to do with how themes are set up in vbulletin. If you go to the bottom of the page and try different themes you'll see that a lot of the navigation menus are set up different in several of them. Because of that you're probably better off using the "Forum Jump" box when you want to navigate between forums. You can find it at the bottom right of most pages except the home page.

The stickies that billsboardonline suggested looking at are in the Buy/Sell Services section. The best thing anyone could do that wants to sell on the forum is to just go check out all the bst forums and read the stickies in each one. Doing that will give a lot more info about how to sell in the forum than just reading a couple of them.

Here's the direct links to all the bst forums if it helps anyone.

    The Marketplace

    edit -
Actually BST does stand for Buy, Sell, Trade, but when you see reference to the "BST forums" or "BST threads" it's usually refering to both the "Buy, Sell, or Trade" and the "Buy/Sell Services". Typically it's even collectively refering to all the Marketplace forums since all four involve either Buying, Selling, or Trading (or some combination of those activities), BST is just quicker to type. :cool2:

Then "the marketplace" should be ON the main nav menu as a gateway WITH the
stickies (that apply to ALL bsts) on the menu to get to the BSTs.
Then no one misses ANY of the stickies.

Instead the BST and BSS are on the nav and SKIP the marketplace altogether.
(like what's the point of 'the marketplace')

Yeah I agree, it would be a lot better like that.
