Been a while since I did it, but I believe I just used to put a . or n/a in the websites file as like you said, it won't accept nothing.

It's been a while since I did it and I'm not at a computer at the moment , but was for when people wanted their business address posted at the end of the comment, for citations presumably.

but if you do that, wouldnt the sites that you are posting to return an error, saying something like "your url does not seem to be valid"?

No. They'll accept a comment regardless of what's put in the URL box generally.

I used to verify the citations were there by putting a bit of the zip code in link checker also if that helps.

Edit: I'll be at a computer soon so can double check.

I have used a / before. That works as well and makes the link back to the root domain.

I think you don't need to do this
Stupid idea about mix link comments and blank link comments
Who care about blank link ? Google ? Nope
They can't detected those black comments are yours
=> Those comments waste your time

Why do you want to build a link just with a keyword, without a link to it?

Not everyone is looking to build a link. There are many ways to use SB besides just building links.
