Look, I've had my personal tumblr blog for a few months now, so it's not at all freshly registered. However, when I try to find my blog in google search, I can't.

When I try site:mytumblrblog.tumblr.com, I also don't see anything in the results.

My blog is publicly available and it has some good articles, so I put a link to my wordpress blog on it, but it looks like it has never been indexed for some reason? Or am I missing something?

You need one of these or all (purely depends on quality):
    1.regular posting
2.external link(s) pointed to your blog
3.your blog/acc activity (likes, comments, reblogs etc)
4.engagement of people visiting your blog

I hope this will help. You probably missed quality part ;)

    Add this to Webmaster tool.
Fetch as Google and Request indexing multiple time. Will be Index under a Min. (Just tried yesterday)

You can add only your sites to Webmaster tool.

To do this, click "Crawl" and select "Fetch as Google." Type the address of the page you want Google to crawl in the text field, or leave it blank to have Google crawl your blog's main page, and then click "Fetch." Wait for the page to refresh and then click "Submit to Index." If you requested a crawl for an individual page, leave the "URL" option selected; if you requested a crawl for your blog's main page, select "URL and All Linked Pages." Click "OK." You see a confirmation of your request. Note that you can only submit 500 crawl requests per week and 10 index requests for an URL and all linked pages per month.

Just added my Tumblr to the Google Webmaster Search Console, not to be confused with Google Analytics. I am now in a crawl queue. Will post an update.

It's a valuable thread that is relevant to today, because some of the instructions given may not apply. The Google Webmaster Console has changed from the directions given. Tumblr is still highly relevant to SEO. To clarify, there is no Fetch option. There is a URL Inspection option once you set up the proper meta tag with your Tumblr. This is important for those who want to get their Tumblr indexed. I will post an update to see if the instructions given here still apply as we get closer to 2020. SEO rapidly changes.
