So the average time spent by any given user on my clients' websites is just 1 minute. I hear that it has to be 2 to 3 minutes. I am not publishing thin content and have even elongated my top performing articles but to no avail. Any ideas related to increasing the average time spent by visitors would be greatly appreciated.

First and foremost add exit intent popup.
Do not make links internal or external open in new tab.
And then cover the usual stuff like add related posts, new post, featured posts, side bar on all posts.
minimum of 5-6 internal links per post.

what kind of site is that?
normally, e-commerce site - average time on site is only 30s
but to be precise, you have to break down the traffic source to see which traffic take the shorted time on site then optimize it
time on site on organic traffic usually longer than paid traffic for sure

Its a law niche website with informative articles targeting the Australian legal landscape.

Hey Mate - Publish lot of articles on your website every week- Get featured in Premium Guest Post websites to leave good impression to your customers -

Interlinking in all articles you publish on your website.

Spread your brand name all over social media channels.

Gradually, you will see the difference.

Use memes and gifs, and lots of paragraphed sentences.

One of the best methods that I've found on how to do this is to just put a video from your YouTube channel on that page.

When people see the video and you have a call to action for them to watch the video, it stops them in their tracks so they stay on that page.

I'm glad that you're concerned about keeping your visitors on your page for as long as possible because this is one of the factors that Google uses to rank sites.

It is also one of the factors that Google looks at to see if a site should get penalized for low-quality content.

If your bounce rate is ridiculously high, then Google will sooner or later start suspecting that your content is low quality.

I completely agree with this comment. Many high quality blogs put videos and lots of pictures. People are now tired of reading and want visual stimulation. Just try, there are many AI video tools out there.

Configure internal links. Configure internal links in three steps to make your site go round and round.

A > B > C > A

Your customers will be a little annoyed, but many people make a lot of money with AdSense this way.

You don't even have to go the FULL AI route - you still need videos that make sense
Thanks to AI assistance, a well-crafted 10 minute video can be as cheap as $25 or lower... depending on order volume.
