So last time I used PirateBay was 2010. COX Internet blocked me and I had to call them up and tell them I was "sorry."

Nothing ever came of it after that.

I never used PirateBay again... I don't download much anyway...

You can see a screenshot of the "White Screen of Death" here:

    http://torrentfreak.com/cox-disconnects-alleged-pirates-from-the-internet-080930/

Anyway, I would like to try to download some apps again.

But I don't want to get "caught" again...

    Ideas?

Some people seem to recommend "PeerBlocker" -- whatever that is. I haven't looked into it. (I'm not much of a network guy...)

    Thanks!

Just start destroying Cox Communication's equipment in your neighborhood.

Time Warner cable has thousands of ugly, green plastic boxes all over town, exposed to just anyone. About a 1/2 gallon of gasoline in each will do the job, if they ever start getting involved in this.

When Cox's business practices cost them money, they'll have more respect for their customers. Cox needs a lesson in basic respect, and the best place to hit them is where it hurts the most; right in the pocketbook.

This is the frog in the boiling water. Eventually we're going to have to do something about stuff like this, and now is just as good a time as any.

    Johnny,

Well I was hoping the answer to my problem would not involve setting fire to objects. Anyway if I blew up the COX communications box on my street, then i'd have no internet at all... That would suck... How would I find new lolcats?

azolia - so are you saying that hotspot shield prevents them from seeing whatever they're seeing - whilst the torrent is downloading?

Look OP, I tried to help you with this, but I just read the Cox "warning letter" post on Pirate Bay they send for violating their Terms of Service, and I noted with particular rage how they presume to tell their customers that they must delete a particular file "from their computer".

    DELETE.

Since when does the paid stooge internet service presume to tell me (or anyone else) what files to delete? It's none of their goddam business what's on someone's computer.

I just got too mad, OP. Sorry. Now I wanna mention how entertaining it would be if someone broke into Cox Communications and found their servers and set them on fire, and deleted THEIR files instead.

I'm amazed this kind of thing happens and no one from Cox gets injured. Their offices aren't burned to the ground, their trucks aren't set on fire while parked on the side of the road in residential neighborhoods, nothing. Maybe in a parallel universe there are freedom-loving Americans resisting corporate usurpation of individual rights & freedoms, but not in this one. This universe is populated by cowards.

Again, sorry OP. I got nothing. Maybe call these Cox-suckers and beg them to turn your internet back on. Maybe they have some large fag in charge of things like this, and if you get down on your knees King Cox will give you your interwebz back.

The whole idea of encrypting your P2P traffic is a good one, but it's too late for that; they've turned off your Vitamin P and I don't think you have any choice but to beg for it to be turned back on. Maybe you can lie and tell them you have a wireless connection and it was accidentally unsecured and illegal Mexican aliens were stealing your bandwidthz in order to e-mail petitions for amnesty back to Las Familias en Mexico to sign & send back.

But honestly, I think you should move to the parallel universe. Armed vigilantes set off a bomb in the corporate offices of Cox Communication there last week, killing most of the Executives, and in response Cox has made a public statement apologising for past corporate policies and have promised to never do it again. Life is better in the parallel universe.
