Been trying to find an article / blog writer who can write at least okay English and isn't trying to sell me spun content, but I haven't been having much luck. I can only write so much of this stuff myself.

I've been looking on FIverr (maybe that's my mistake), and there's TONS of choice, but so far the people who have sent me samples either gave me obviously spun content (when they implied that their work was original) or they were so lazy that they just gave me an article that they literally copied and pasted off the Internet and that they clearly didn't write themselves. These weren't necessarily bottom-of-the-barrel price ranges I was looking in, either.

It's been making me paranoid, so now I'm vetting the heck out of each one of them.

Does anyone have any tips? Where should I look for decent writers at a decent price? How much should I expect to pay for someone who isn't scamming me?

I don't mind someone who isn't perfect; I can always edit grammar and to some extent less-than-perfect English, but there's nothing I can do with content that doesn't have a single original thought.

Look in the Marketplace here, there's cheap and cheerful through to more costly writers.

Another option is use the Hire A Freelancer and post there, your own thread.

I Would agree with MisterF.. There are a ton of freelance sites but they tend to draw attention from tons of want to be freelancers that may not even complete the work.
Personally I would try BHW due to the audience... I'm sure you could find a more educated and reliable writer... Just make a new thread asking for someone and include more details

    Best of luck

You can outreach writers in your LinkedIn network or social media. And, verifying their writing through Copyscape, you can know how well their writing is. If you’re ok with their writing, you can hire. Or else, the best way is you can look for the best writers here in the marketplace section.

You can try the marketplace section it the best place to get the decent writers or hire a freelancer for writing.

Create a new thread in freelancer section you can get more responses there. And then you can get the samples from them to know about their writing skills. Then you can analyze their way of writing, quality of content. List out them from the analysis you can find best one.

Hire from your local college. Meet them in person and explain your requirements. I find quality of writing is much better than those found in the marketplace or anywhere else.

Maybe you can search it on google and find some service website which runs for a long time in Google SERP. They have experience mostly to write perfect English as you thought how you need your article.

Fiverr is totally crap and you will get shit for your money of all time.

Good luck with your searching people who give you the best service.

I work with lots of content writers and we find the best way to find them is through upwork and college. College will you find people who have more of their own thoughts.

Sadly the hard part is you will always have to test them. Upwork allows you to limit it to people from different locations in the world but they suck and charge you a lot of fees. Just use it to find freelancers and than move them out of upwork :)

    College?
Also I'm doing the same thing with Fiverr, it takes me ~7 writers to find someone decent, and when I do I move them to Skype... My biggest issue with Fiverr is the transaction fee and the lack of option to buy credit points, I used to talk with sellers and tell them "I'm gonna order in $100 and ask for a refund, I need credits" but it doesn't worth it and this platform doesn't worth my business anyway.

    What is a College?
A college is a smaller institution that typically offers undergraduate degrees. Some colleges, such as community colleges and junior colleges, may offer only two-year degrees. Most colleges offer bachelor’s degrees, and some colleges also have associate degrees.

    What is a University?
A university is an institution that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. Universities offer graduate programs leading to a master’s degree or a Ph.D. These institutions also may have a medical or law school for students wishing to pursue professional degrees. Some universities offer special programs where their students can earn both an undergraduate degree and a graduate degree in a reduced amount of time. Generally, universities have a more diverse offering of classes and programs than a college because of the larger number of enrolled students. Buy from the BHW marketplace, where mod reviews have taken place on all the services and they have been approved before going live.

Stop looking on Fiverr where anyone can sell and no quality control or review process is in place.

Hi, @flukeman. Check out the MarketPlace section and check our fellow BHW members' reviews. If you're still half-hearted, try 1 or 2 content providers and place a test order. The end-result should enable you to give a go or a no-go decision for a bigger order.

Also, interview the writers via chat on Skype. That's one way for you to check their grammar.

There are some very good writers on BHW.

You wouldn't want to look for writers on Fiverr. Good content costs money. I wouldn't expect to receive 600 word high quality, original content for $5.

If good content was so inexpensive, everyone and their uncle would have scores of high quality websites :)
