    Hello everybody,

So I have a new idea for an online store which is the following: I'll ship you internationally delicious Dutch food/candy. I have tested the response to this idea on Reddit in a business subreddit, and I got six people who were serious and excited about buying Dutch candy/food from me.

Now, I'm thinking on starting a website around this idea but I have a hard time about figuring out how I'll do it. I have the following questions:

    1) Is it legal to ship Dutch candy/food to other countries without license?
    2) What products should I include on my website? Something like the 10 most delicious Dutch candy/food? Or should I make some sort of Dutch candy/food surprise box?
    3) Is it legal to buy candy/food products at my local convenience store and sell them with a higher profit margin? Will the big companies behind these products sue me once they find out what I'm doing?

    Thanks in advance.

    1) Are the candy/food made by your relatives?
    2) Maybe you can do something like lootcrate candy version.
    3) If you can buy it at your local convenience store, people can buy it too online, so it's pretty much not as valuable as candy made by locals in netherlands.

There are a few online stores like this already that sell dutch food, find out how you can match their prices, look at contacting food wholesalers (those that supply shops) on getting better deals.

It's a good idea, I've seen it before with Jap candy, where they have monthly subscriptions and you get a pack with various stuff every month.

    1) That really depends on local law, can't know. Certainly not legal as an individual without registering for business in some capacity.

    2) See what others do in the same niche (not same country), start by copying what their membership levels are.

    3) This applies to 1) as well. Nobody will ever care for the low volume you will have initially. My advice: Prove that you can work the model. Once you see money flowing it, take the steps to making it legal.

Its not spying so much as just comparing yourself against your competition.

I have actually bought dutch food online in the past (lived abroad and still do) and price is a huge deciding factor since costs are so high (shipping, tax, buying fees), plus you should focus on all dutch foods (and ingredients!) and not just snacks/or small selection, stroopwafels are for example pretty easy to get your hands on in southern africa, UK and spain (places i've lived) usually finding them in a local supermarkets.

too find success here you will need cheap prices and a large selection, simple.
