How do I check my rank in Google for the US from another country?

I live in Europe, but my sites are based on US searches, and I'd like to know what is a surefire way to check your rank when someone from the US types in your keyword.

Change you google home page from your country page to .com for example
in the UK my google home page is set to google.co.uk so all I get is UK results
But for us results i goto google.com or aus results i go to google.com.au

OR just us traffic travis it's free

Use VPN service like HMA to change your location and IP-addrss to USA, UK, CA whatever you like....

I personally use traffic travis or the SERPS checker tool at http://www.seoserp.com/web_tools/google_top_1000_serps_checker.asp for this issue.
