How different are ORM strategies (e.g. Google Reviews) for different countries?

I'm mostly thinking North America vs European. Is it precisely the same (language differences aside)? Any notable differences?

The basics are the same everywhere. Build strong profiles and positive content. The only difference is which platforms matter most in each country. Just focus on what ranks locally and follow local rules.

For most platforms they are fairly similar, however, Google specifically works slightly different for US listings and general worldwide. It is common to see 'pending' for reviews on Google reviews in European countries as well as having the option to reclaim if it wasn't submitted, whereas for US it generally doesn't work that way. If this is not what you mean, I'd be happy to answer if you would clarify further :)

Yelp is far more dominant in the US than in Europe, where Google Reviews take the lead. In fact, a study on 500 US-based businesses showed that 75% of their reviews came from Yelp, whereas in Europe, it was the opposite, with 60% coming from Google. This shift in platform importance affects review management strategies, with US-focused campaigns prioritizing Yelp optimization and European campaigns focusing on Google Review velocity and diversity.

The core ORM approach is mostly the same, but user behavior and platforms can differ by region. For example, Google Reviews tends to dominate in North America, while some European countries also rely more on local directories and industry-specific platforms. Also noticed that review frequency and response expectations can vary depending on the market.

The core vibe is the same, but you really have to watch out for the local cultural nuance and privacy laws like gdpr in eu which makes review solicitation a bit trickier than in the usa. Stick to the universal rules of engagement, but definitely adjust your tone and platforms based on the specific market's digital behavior
