As many of you guys know, a month or so ago the account @sunnycoclothing went viral with a "free" product offering that gained them about 600K followers in a span of 1 to 2 weeks.

Has anyone figured out how they did this?

They had about 5K followers prior to going viral and i don't think them just posting the giveaway post had enough traction to make it explode as it did.

Did they buy powerlikes? Paid tons of other big accounts to post simultaneously?

Any ideas would be appreciated !!

I think part of the reason is that they offered everyone that reposts their picture a free swimsuit and that brought about the avalance. Although i also dont think that alone made them achieve that particular level of success.

I don't think that alone did particularly too much because i see accounts do these type of giveaways all day but none of them gain anywhere close to like 600K+ in a matter of days/week

They had a good product, and they lied telling everyone that they would get one for free if they reposted. They got hit so hard, they shut down their IG account and website for a few days. Now they're back, but read their comments. Most people are pissed about not getting a free or paid swimsuit.

I think they're buying likes, and most of the comments are negative.

Simple, because someone bit. Stop thinking that this was a one off. They probably did the same shit over and over till someone bit. But all you see is the magic money side. Get your head out the WF magic bean wonderland shit, and see the real effort put into it.

Come on man. This is just obvious. There is nothing that difficult about it.
They offered EVERY SINGLE FUCKING PERSON who REPOSTS their post a FREE FUCKING SWIMSUIT.
As simple as that.
In general, contests and giveaways are always like "Repost/Share and we will CHOOSE ONE WINNER RANDOMLY."
That makes most people go like "FUCK IT, I'd never win!" (There is no gaurentee)

What Sunny Co did was opposite of that. (They gave guarantee)
They told the world -
Comment/Repost/Share
And you get the fucking swimsuit NO MATTER WHAT.
Haha.
-
Everyone can go viral if they have READY STOCK and cash to burn on free giveaways.
-
Imagine if you find a post on Instagram that says 'Do this and do that and you MIGHT win this. Just maybe". (What would you do?)
And then, imagine you see another post, "Do this and do that, send us a DM and the shit is yours NO QUESTIONS ASKED". Haha. (You'd do those actions of repost/share/DM in a heartbeat).
-
The simple reason it went viral is because people reposted it. And their friends saw it. And their friends wanted it. And they reposted it. It went on and on like a virus.
-
They got so popular that in the end they weren't able to keep up with the promise. Haha. They could only accommodate the first 50,000 requests.

No rocket science mate. Come on. Haha. There is no secret. You just need a fuck ton of cash to burn to give free giveaways.

I even doubt they had much to do with power likes and shit man. What they offered was just too sweet of a deal. Its FREE shit. Everyone likes FREE SHIT.
Do one thing. Whatever your niche start offering UNLIMITED FUCKING PRODUCT GIVEAWAYS on Instagram and you'd have 700k in 5 days too. Haha.

I doubt they had a fuck ton of cash or even needed it for that matter.

Well they did delivery 50,000 swim suits for FREE.
So they did blow a fuck ton of cash on it didn't they?
Even if the swim suits were of inferior quality it must have cost them SOMETHING. 50,000 units is a lot of product!

I believe they used the free + shipping model amd dropshipped from china, so in this case they would have actually made money.

It was a free + shipping charge method.

They did mention people will have to pay minor shipping charge.

They promoted it as an $69 product. People were charged $12.98 for shipping.

Where did you get that they gave away 50K free swimsuits? Their website/IG account?

It's been a few months, and no one got anything. People are bitchin about it. On top of "everyone gets one FREE", they had nothing to give away.
Sort of like "win this Porsche", and then don't give shit to anyone. Fake giveway!

We can obviously not be sure of what exactly they did. However, talking about how they went viral is simple -

Well. If you see their posts they have a 'letter' posted on their IG feed saying that they are sorry and they didn't expect these many requests and shit. And that they will process 50,000 orders only.
I don't know if they did pull off a scam or if this was a legit thing as I didn't order.
The question was the reason behind them going viral.
-
So its obvious that they promised every single person who reposted their post a free swimsuit.
And thats how they got viral.
-
Whether or not this was a scam I have no clue!
Cheers!
