How deadly is going with Co?

Leaving my old EMD and taking the content (after redirecting) to a new personal website.

Checked if my name was available in .com, it isn't.

Do you consider going with co a problem if I'm trying to reach a global audience?

I THINK I haven't experienced drawbacks from extensions before, but there's always someone who pushes .com so interested in hearing this.

My first choice would be .com but I went with .co for one website and didn’t really feel any “drawback”.

I’m just from an older generation that has a bias for .com

I have been working lately with different company websites with "location extensions" and felt they were doing just fine.

Glad to see you experienced it first hand and didn't see drawbacks.
