I couldn't find a direct response for this. I've seen a few individuals mention that it helps, but I was curious how crucial is it?

I rank videos that have just an image as the "video" and they play a demo track for the product they are advertising. I have been ranking fairly well on YouTube though these videos are 720p (max). I still can't seem to jump to the #1 spot, so with other factors put aside, could not rendering my videos in 1080 potentially harm my rankings so much so that I should redo them?

    Thanks in advance!

HQ videos always have a better chance of ranking. YouTube tries to offer the user not only the most relavant content, but also quality content. Longer videos also do better

Any individual video is not doomed simply because it isn't of the best quality. It's all about YouTube's algorithm and how the video matches up with each keyword in relation to its competition. Higher quality is more likely to attract more views, likes, shares, etc, so it is for this reason that those videos tend to rank higher. That said, it's all about the numbers, and if your video has the right ones, it doesn't matter what the quality looks like.

Get higher quality videos out, will definitely help out in your ranking. Consumers normally look out for something that is attractive if thats what your aiming for.
