I haven't had a good experience hiring people on odesk. I have hired 5 writers since February. The first guy didnt freaking read the ad, he just bid. so after getting hired, decided he didnt want to do it.
    the 2nd guy, same.
the 3rd guy, his sister got run over by a bus and he couldnt do it anymore
the 4th guy, he got into a car accident.
the 5th guy, he and his sister got into a car accident.

do i bring people bad luck, or what?
totally not impressed with odesk. I would rather write articles myself than waste my time with these people. how is scriptlance, anybody tried that site?

Sounds like you're having a fairly typical outsourcing experience. :D

Scriptlance is just like every other outsourcing site... You have to wade through tons of shitheads to find the few golden workers.

Those are such common excuses. Check these one out (I got them from workers):
    - He or a close relative had surgery
    - A close relative died
    - He got food poisoning
    - He got bit by a shark
    - He got bit by a snake
    - His ISP went down
    - Cyclone made his ISP go down (there was no cyclone near his country during that period)
    - Car accident
    - Just disappeared, no excuse, no details.
    - He thought when I said Friday I meant the next Friday :)
    - He met a girl and he forgot about everything else. This was the only excuse I accepted :)

This is common. 0.01% of all workers might be great, 0.1% might be usable. The vast majority are crap.

Damn bro I thought I was cursed when I went on odesk, with everybody raving about their team of superworkers. All I got was filipinos who seemed to have a very high incidence of flooding. And it was really annoying to try to get my money back.

RAC aka vworker on the other hand has had some stellar workers for me, if you need a little program made just hire some wiz for $20 and voila! It's great! Of course it hasn't been perfect but vworker is the best I've had so far. Elance is just full of indians who do half assed work like robots and take your money for hardly anything. So overall, vworker ftw!

oh ya, i just remembered. this other guy didnt get into a car accident. in fact, he delivered his work perfectly except that it was all copied from another site even though i had mentioned THREE times in my ad that articles will be checked for originality.
