I've been running a music blog for the past year that now must have around 1000 pages and rather than ranking for a particular keyword, I want to rank for everything so when a new song comes out, when I put it on my site, I will be ranking at the top of g00gle for the song name.

My site is PR3, mainly through link exchange but I haven't really done any concious SEO. Should I just blast backlinks at random pages all the time or what?

I have a site that I think is more than capable of ranking highly and should be pretty good in google's eyes, the domain is 2 years old, I've been putting lots of content on it for 1 year and it's PR3, I just need to take action but am not sure what action exactly seeing as I'm not looking to rank one page for one thing.

Please could you recommend me some software or a strategy? I'm more than happy to PM anyone a link to my site if you can have a look at it and offer some more specific advice, just say so below.

    Thanks.

You need to take your link building to the next level. Link exchanges are not really all that good anymore. You need to focus on building high quality one way links to your main page, and to all the inner pages of the site.

    The-dream,

There are lots of things you can do to improve your site. In your first paragraph you talk about ranking for "everything". This is not a good strategy. Your SEO plan should be focused and you should target keywords that are relevant to your website. Ranking for "everything" would entail you having a website that is about "everything". This is simply not practical. You mentioned you have a music blog so focus on a niche in music, find related keywords, and try and rank for those.

You are adding unique content on a regular basis so you already have that going for you. Keep doing this and optimize your posts with your target keywords. For your link building strategy I would recommend not blasting your blog with backlinks or doing anything that would appear spammy.

I would start with some onsite SEO if you haven't done so already. You could also try promoting the site through social media channels. As long as you are posting great content, people will want to link to it.

This guide from SEOMoz is a good reference for backlink building,

    Hope that helps,
