Hey, One of my sites had one main competitor, which was the authority site in its niche. It was PR6, had been steadily adding regular, 1000+ word posts around 4-6 times a week since it was launched in 2003/2004, so it had a LOT of quality content. Around a year ago, the guy posted on the site saying that he wouldn't be able to post for a while. The site remained active, but has never been updated. The guy was active on forums related to the niche, so naturally there have been loads of questions, but never any answers, just loads of rumours. Anyway, about a week ago the site finally went down. The domain is registered until 2013, but presumably the server bills haven't been paid, so now the site is offline. My question is - how can I take advantage of this situation? I searched google for "site:hisdomain.com", and there are only a handful of results, which are all hisdomain.com/page/2/, hisdomain.com/page/3/ etc, so none of his posts are actually indexed (apart from any which have been pasted onto forums). Is there any way I can scrape any of his content through Google Cache to post on my own site? Is there any other way I can take advantage of this?
