sup guys. my buddies parents own a huge music venue in our city, has huge shows with all top name artists/dj's. has a capacity of 1500 or so in the building (doing renovations to get to 3000).

anyways, they have a website and theyre not making money on it at all. they hire some random guy to make the site, which is pretty crap at the moment and they still get 25,000 visitors a month (without advertising or anything)

basically there is a huge opportunity here for me and my friend to get in on this and start making some money via the venues website, but im drawing blanks here. I'm not sure what would be good ways to make some money though, which is why im making this post.

Please give some ideas, if you'd like to JV send me a message.

    Thanks

It would seem like the best way would be to sell tickets online and advertise upcoming shows. At the very most, sell ad spaces to bands.

I can't imagine the profit margin on anything else being higher then that.

Banner space for record shops, upcoming bands/artists, new venues, big shows, etc.. with 25 000 visits a month, you can monetize that properly and cleanly. I think that's the main one!

It seems like the only other thing you could do is promote some bands.

If you were to install AdSense or promote any other affiliate program, you could potentially be taking away ticket sales, which, I assume have the highest profit margin.

EDIT: You may be able to get sponsors for the site, and give them some ad space in return. As long as the companies aren't competitors.

You should try to sell as much merchandise as possible. Sell shirts for the bands (as long as they get paid too and approve), shirts for the venue, and other items like you mentioned. You could also start putting up some youtube videos of the bands playing to get more exposure for the venue and the bands. Get a facebook page together so people can keep up with upcoming shows. Create fan page events for every big show you have. Pass out flyers and run ads in local news papers, greensheets, and neighborhood newletter. If the budget allows buy radio spots and send self made write up of performances to local publications, they love free content and you article might get published, just don't make it sound like a self promote. Get people to join an email list or a sms text club to be alerted of upcoming events. The main objective is to sell more tickets, consesions (beer and liquor if possible), and merchandise. Don't cheapen the integrity of the venue by trying to make a few bucks from adsense. Work a deal with them to make you a promoter so you get a cut off the door. Use social media, email, sms, ads, print ads, flyers, and word of mouth to bring people in. No need to any tricks just good old fundamental marketing.

cut to the front of the line to get in
    special discounts on concessions
    better seating
    first notice of upcoming shows
meet and greet with the artists
    discounts on tickets

if you could swing the "meet and greet" with the artists, a lot of people would pay to join just for that.
