    Hi guys,

i am currently experimenting with an authority site, in which i write for daily. The plan is to write lots of content regularly and rank for long tail keywords. The site doesnt have any authority as of yet, no PR etc. so even for long tail, low competition keywords i will struggle to rank on the first page.

In terms of on site SEO i think i am doing okay, using the keyword in the title, tags and in the articles. I am also using the wordpress plugin 'Platinum SEO pack'. I am also using the keyword in the permalink.

Now i need a method for off site SEO, i am assuming i wont need many backlinks to rank high for most of the keywords i target, because they are very low competition. Most of them dont even get 100 searches per month, so the competition is pretty damn low. How can i make sure i rank well for these keywords?

One idea i have looked at is creating web 2.0 profiles. For example, i will create a free blog on wordpress or blogger. The site will contain the keyword and 2 or 3 spun posts based around the keyword. This free site will have a link to the page i am trying to rank, with the anchor text being the keyword i want to rank for.

Is this a viable method for ranking low comp, long tail keywords?
    Appreciate any help,
    -Diice

Yes that is a relatively sound method of doing it. I also rank a few long tail keywords with no backlinks whatsoever, and make it to page 1 in a few days. I find a way that works, and is a lot easier than making articles with backlinks is just to promote like crazy on Twitter and Facebook. You can use link collider for this. Good luck dude.

you can use GSA SER and just set it to post to only high PR sites. set it to say 10-50 backlinks per day per page and you should be ranking in no time

I am a little skeptical when it comes to SEO software, is it really neccessary to use software for low competition keywords?

I would prefer to avoid using a software as i have not had great experiences with them in the past. SeNuke just left me completely broke and the rankings didnt justify the cost and time i spent working with it.

Senuke builds mostly nofollow links. Try GSA SER. If you do, your opinion of SEO tools will definitely change.
