I’ve noticed a huge traffic drop from Yahoo after an algorithm change. What specific SEO practices are working to rank better on Yahoo in 2025?

Keep focusing on high-quality content, clean on-page SEO, and strong backlinks—Yahoo still values the basics for ranking.

Usual vague reply... no value at all.

To improve your rankings on yahoo, submit your site to Bing webmaster tools, Focus on quality content, fast website speed, mobile-friendly design, proper keywords, and building good backlinks.

Yahoo mostly pulls a lot from Bing these days, so I'd focus on Bing SEO first.

I've had better results from cleaning up on-page SEO, getting relevant backlinks, and improving content freshness. Also check technical stuff like indexing and crawl errors.

Chasing "Yahoo-specific" tricks hasn't really moved the needle for me.

If i were in your place, i will optimize my site for all search engines and not any one. There are so many search engine. Optimise your site and everything on page and you will not be dependent on any one

Make sure your site loads fast and works well on mobile devices. technical issues can hurt rankings on both yahoo and bing.

yep yahoo mostly follows google now, just focus on good content, backlinks, and site speed.

Focus on strong SEO fundamentals—high-quality content, relevant backlinks, fast site speed, and good user experience—since Yahoo search results are largely powered by Bing.

From what I’ve seen, Yahoo still heavily relies on Bing-style signals, so focusing on solid on-page SEO, clean technical structure, and strong backlinks matters more than any “Yahoo-specific” tricks. Also, improving page speed and content depth helped recover some traffic for me after similar drops.

Honestly I think content freshness matters more now. Updating old posts regularly helped me regain some lost visibility.

One thing I’d add, @StarDrift, don’t look at Yahoo traffic alone in GA/Search Console and guess from there... compare the same URLs in Bing Webmaster Tools. Most of the time when Yahoo drops, you’ll see Bing impressions/clicks moved first.

For 2025 I’ve seen better results from tightening titles to match the actual query intent, cleaning thin tag/category pages, adding proper schema where it makes sense, and refreshing pages that had stale dates/info. Also check if Yahoo is sending less from one country/device, sometimes it’s not “ranking” but layout/partner traffic changed. @DarkSpend saying Google is kinda off imo, Yahoo search is much more Bing-side these days.

To improve rankings on Yahoo, focus on good SEO basics like keywords, quality content, and clear structure. It still follows similar SEO signals as other search engines.

If I was in your place. I should have focus on making high quality content and more backlinks. There are so many search engines instead of optimising my site and relying on one search engine I will always make my site optimizer for all. It will have very good impact

The search results of Yahoo are effectively dependent on Bing search results. On page SEO, matching user’s search intent exactly, and good quality back links have remained important, but low-quality/AI written articles get affected very badly post update

Yahoo mostly follows Bing signals, so i saw better results after improving content quality, fixing tech SEO and getting a few relevent backlinks.

yeah everyone saying yahoo is basically bing is spot on, but nobody mentioned how old school the bing algo actually is. google moved away from exact match anchors and keyword density years ago but bing/yahoo still eats that up. if you over-cleaned your anchors to look natural for google, you probably tanked your yahoo rankings. try hitting some exact match anchors on your top pages and make sure you got the exact keyword in the H1. also set up indexnow if you havent already... helps a lot with getting updated content crawled faster on their end.
