As everybody knows it is easily possible to fake metrics like DA/PA/CF/TF (if my humble knowledge is right TF is still the hardest to fake). My question: What are the best indicators to identify such manipulation? For example I just check out a domain on godaddy which has a good TF/CF~ 20. But when I look at the distribution there are a lot of low TF backlinks.

Would you generally stay away from such a domain? What are your red flags for faked metrics?

There's no really such thing as "faked" metrics, just unreliable metrics that are hard to distinguish. I manually look at the backlinks the site has to check if it's ok or not.

You cannot just rely on metrics. TF/CF/PA/DA/PR etc. are just the starting point.

Once you find a domain that has decent metrics, you have to go on to manually check the backlink profile.

There is no substitution for a manual analysis.

You can play the game one of two ways - quality, or quantity.
    a) close inspection of each domain, manual review, etc etc - perhaps spending an hour for a 'good' domain
    b) buy expired domains in bulk if they meet your metric criteria, and don't contain spam anchors - buying XX in a single hour.

I play the volume game. I know that some domains are crap, but I also know that I have good ones in the batches I buy. The worst case scenario for me is that a few don't get indexed, or, that their OBL's are devalued.
    And I don't care.
I know that if I add a good number of domains to my PBN nodes each month, the power of my network will grow - and that's all I want.

That said - someone who goes the manual-review route could probably get the same ranking power from 10 sites that I get from 50, but that's ok too.

I also walked the quantity route now and bought a bulk of domains. One technical question: When the domains are pushed to my godaddy account they will ALL have my default contact information first. Of course I edited them using fakenamegenerator to give them different contacts. However, for a couple of minutes all domains had the same registrant. Will google see that in the whois history?

I have no idea. Maybe they will. But I don't think it's a big deal even if they do...

Once you find domains that have good metrics, you really need to take a good look at the backlink profile. You can usually tell pretty quickly if the metrics have been inflated by spammy links.

Actually metrics can be faked. The easiest of all are Alexa rankings...just a headsup.

Metrics are metrics. They may be manipulated, but they are never faked.
