So there is a domain I REALLY want, it's a good domain in general, but really important since it's the name of my business. It's been expired for about 20 days so far, and in redemption. The person who had it is unlikely to buy it back since it was just some crappy blog with 1 post on it before expiring.

I REALLY want this domain. I know my hosting company offers to make a bid for it if I want, but since it's in redemption I doubt the owner would buy it back to sell to me. What is the best way I can ensure the best odds of acquiring this domain?

Since the date that the domain expires, I think there is 90 more days before it goes deleted/available to register for everyone.

    You have 2 choices:
1.Place a backorder from your favorite registrar. It costs around 40-50$ I think and once the domains expired, the registrar will register for you instantly ( I am not 100% sure if it works like this though)
2.Watch the domain daily and check the date that becomes available for the public to register.Google some tools.

    Hope it helps.

My advice is to use some drop catcher service: snoopnames, namjet etc

Do not use godaddy to check on it, you may well see it bought by godaddy then as if by magic it becomes a premium domain.

Drop catching services are the closest you can come to guaranteeing you get a domain name. Namejet and Snapnames are the big dogs, so use them IF you're worried someone else will get to the domain before you and you're willing to pay a premium for the domain.

Buy a backorder to get it. Avoid the one where your bid is public. I recommand you Pheenix, Namejet, Snapnames, etc.

I would check on status of domain several time a day. That worked for me for one particular domain, I just put it in the shopping basket of domain service and got it after a few days try.

Use all the top drop catchers at once
