Hello. I run an automotive blog that also has a forum integrated. The link to the forum is : hxxp:/www.nextc0nceptcars.c0m/f0rum

The blog receives like 500-800 unique visitors per day but the forum only receives like 5 visitors per day and there are only 5 registered members. What can I do so I will get more members and some action going on the forum?

    Thank you!

Your forum should be unique - not just like any other forum about cars. There has to be a need for a forum like yours or else it will fail. Just think about any other popular forum and you'll realise it.

Also linking to your forum in your signature might work.

Make an article on your blog and right at the climax ... "to be continued in the forum." Then make it so they can't access the article unless they are a registered member of the forum :)

    Cheers!

Your making the same mistake most people do.

Start the forum off with no categories (first page is the posts) and build the categories when the one section is too small.

I'd also remove the comments option and link each article to a forum post and put in a few dummy responses. Nobody will join up to an empty forum.

It might also be worth asking people to sign up to a newsletter (eZine). Once you have enough email address you can start emailling a subset of the better blog entries with a link to the full article.

remember content is king so if you can get users to submit articles it'll take the load of you.... I have a blog/forum that a member now runs for me. Now that's true automation.

I'd also add a 'send to friend' option for each blog posting. People into cars usually hang around with other people into cars and concept cars are definately something they would want to share.

what type of message board are you using?

there are scripts that you can use that pull content from yahoo answers and also inflate the number of users you have on your message board to make it "look" more busy....

Make some interesting topics on some manually created accounts like "Leaked left 4 Dead content" and cliff hangers and put a fake dl link and make links only for reg users. :)

Article market it as a user who endorses the site - then social book mark those articles. I recommend SENuke for this sort of stuff

Put an Advertisement and tell your entire friend to register so more friend's means more visitors.
Use the Google ad words system to advertise.
Go to Google Digg etc and submit your URL
Advertise it on socially active sites such as Facebook, twitter
    makes it interesting

Why should they join your forum? What's there for them that's not on the site?

I think you need a unique forum.
You must have links on the other sites or pages related to your forum.
