I wan't to start a car rally soon, and I need investors and sponsers to get it going. The first rally is going to be 4100km long across southern Europe.

You should be able to get sponsors fairly easy by contacting businesses that are in the same field that your rally is in. Car dealerships, auto parts stores, etc.

Investors need to see a return on their money and feel like it's a safe bet for them. You need to know the answer to any question they might ask you, and they need to see some type of a plan. Maybe not a complete business plan, but a detailed mini-plan at least. There are resources online where they will tell you how to write a business plan for free.

Finding investors can be tough, just google the following sites: gobignetwork, go4funding, breadstreet. Good luck.

Yeah, I would start up with a somewhat detailed plan, one focusing a lot on the marketing aspect of it. Start calling up any business related to cars, and show/read them your business(marketing) plan so that it sounds REALLY attractive to them. Make the marketing opportunity one that they can't refuse, and then ask for larger amounts of money for the top-notch marketing chance. There's more/most of the investment. Just sing to the tune of the advertisers.

Can you be more specific about the rally please? What type of cars will be involved, which countries will it pass through, etc? I am from southern Europe (south-east actually) and I am very interested.

You should really try http://www.kickstarter.com/ for this... writer people's names on the cars... call them sponsors for $20-40 whatever...

I'm sure you would get a lot of ppl backing you there if you make a cool video.. for a cool industry like yours it should be easy :)

So you're thinking something kind of like GumBall ? Where participants have to pay an entering fee ?
You could think about organizing this rally with the purpose of raising money for a specific cause (homeless people help, orphan children, etc) - God knows we have a lot of such causes in Romania... And maybe pull in some help (maybe financial support) from humanitarian organizations in Europe to help you get this of the ground.

I would love to help you in such an endeavor, I'm from Bucharest. Unfortunately, my company does not yet have the money to advertise in such an event... for now.
