Ok, well I have been using two methods:

    http://anonymizeit.com/go.php?url=h...ethod-step-step-keyword-research-newbies.html
And Kim Roach's live seo approach.

But, I would like to know is that all I need, or is there any other way. I don't have market sumarai (I've never tried it, so I'm thinking the demo would be limited for me), but I want to make sure I find the best keywords for my site.

Also I was thinking about targeting at least 7-10 longtail keywords first, would that be wise?

The market samurai trial is the full functional version, so you should definitely try it as it's what worked the best for me.

Really so using these methods and traffic travis free could find the best keywords. I would love to tell the niche, but its for a friend of mine who wants it confidential. But I always thought you had to have a variety of tools like market samurai, etc?

Traffic Travis helps you analyze the competition for the first 10 or 20 sites

Ok, so I decided to use Market Samurai, and is what I came up with the keyword. I wanted to know some advice. The main keyword I am targeting is highly competitive, its actually two competitive organic keywords, here is an example: "Fastfood restaurants: best places to eat". So I started with "Fast food restaurants" since "best places to eat" is highly competitive, but the goal is to convert visitors into buying the guide of best places to eat, you kind of see what I mean?

Here is what it came up, and here are 3 of the most relevant keywords that were at the top of search (titled A, B, C).

    Keyword Searches (Broad) (Phrase) (Exact)
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxA 740 400 270
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxB 1100 270 155
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxC 490 270 120

How many keywords should I target? 3 or more?? The 3 above are imo not that competive, so I was thinking of adding the adding and targeting the competive keyword as well (4 keywords).
