I've heard that putting Google Webmaster tools / analytics allows them to track BH stuff easier. Is this true?

What are the alternatives for these things?

SEMRush will provide you a list of organic keywords that your website is currently ranked for, this will show you keywords for all rank positions (depending on your account level)

You can use seoserp to find single keyword rank at a time.

FireFox's plugin, Rank Tracker, let's you put in multiple keywords per domain.

If you're doing on-page black hat SEO, I wouldn't advise signing up for GA or Webmaster Tools.

There are other paid software like SEScout if you choose to go that route (You can use them for free for 1 domain and 10 keywords)

    Hope this helps!

If your hosting has cPanel, look for your log programs and use awstats. It will list your traffic by KW and referring sites.
