    Hey everyone, I am curious about building backlinks to authority sites, the kind where the homepage does NOT rank but the inner pages do rank. I have some 30 websites, each with approx. 2000 pages indexed, I would like to build links for but I am not sure how to go about doing it.

    My first thought is run a sitemap on each website, then throw the results into GSA and just letting it run

    not sure if this will do any good, I wish there was an easy way to do this with 301's or SAPE

    any thoughts?

    It depends on whats the desired result.

    Traffic ?
    Spam social networks and guest post on related blogs in your niche.

    Improved metrics of your whole website ?
    Interlink your pages through snippets, quotes, and even plain links. Inner linking works wonders for improving metrics.

    SERP traffic on your pages ?

    This one's tricky and you could do it by moving around links on a weekly basis. For example you have a new page/post to which you want to bring some SERP traffic so other than the obvious homepage link you should try and use a 'featured post' type of script that will show a link to your desired post everywhere on your website

    Since you mentioned 301's it means you have some idea of what that means and you have the resources to do it. In this case 301 powerful domains to your pages/posts then link the pages to your main domain/post you need to rank for rather than just 301'ing to your main domain.

    SAPE might work in low volumes on pages, never tried it to be honest.

    The problem is I *think* I cannot redirect enough domains behind a single 2,000 page website to help the other inner pages to rank, without taking some months off my life. I really don't care if the homepage ranks or not, I just want to send more juice to the inner pages, while saving on time and expenses, so I can scale further.

    Still, thanks for the great and well-thought out answer. I will ponder on it and see if I can automate this some how - cheers!

    no problem :)

    You can set up redirect packages. Unfortunately I don't know enough C# to login to FTP accounts but I am 100% sure that is doable. Get someone to write you a C# program that connects to your desired FTP accounts and edits some lines in your htaccess file. Once you have that organize them in a way that would be simple for you to handle fast.

    For example:

    script1 -> connects to 5 FTP accounts and edits the htaccess to redirect to the site/page you want

    ftp connection sequence;
    rewriteHT("file",URL)

    {open "file";
    get line;
    edit line;
    save;}

    script2 does the same thing only for different FTP accounts. It will take you a while to set up but if you're not planning on switching redirected URL's from package1 to package2 you should be fine.

    Or you could hire a VA and pay him to do it. It's basic stuff, just connect to FTP X, edit a file with a line... nothing too hard but repetitive as F&*K.

    Pickup websites 5 at a time because I think it will really difficult to work on all 30 sites together.
