I work at a semi large company that manufactures and distributes brand name budget electronics like earbuds, phones, tablets, speakers, as well as cheap household appliances (so not really a specific niche). They have a warehouse filled with a lot of extra stock and stuff they want to get rid of it. I spoke to my boss about the possibility of using his products to sell on the internet and he is all for it. Assuming I can take a cut of every sale I make, is there really an opportunity here? I really dont know the advantage of this compared to online affiliate offers or arbitrage, but I'm a newb so I'd like your ideas. Am I sitting on a gold mine or did I not think this through?

It depends. Are these good items? Can you make a profit? Search on eBay what the prices are and find out yourself.

I used to move products of this nature in lots on liquidation sites. Unless you're really willing to invest a lot of time listing items, or generating leads for potential buyers constantly it can be hard to move generic products like this. Of course Ebay does come to mind, but there could be some major headaches involved with such large items, not having a pre-established storefront, etc...

So that's why I lean towards liquidation models here. No you won't typically make anywhere near as much as if you tried to piece mail everything out, but you will move inventory much faster generally speaking, and clear through the lot in relatively short order generating a decent short-term earnings. That's the route I would take anyway. You even might be able to find some folks at salvage shops to buy stuff in bulk. There's a lot of ways to move the product, but the fastest by far will be to try to liquidate the whole thing if possible.

Honestly I would just join up all the facebook yardsell sites and just start posting away. You are nearly sure to make a profit if the price is right.

if they are good items than you are sitting on a goldmine. Depends on where you live, might be Europe, people from Asian country more than willing to buy stocks which are good yet at a half price, so they can resell and make money.
