how can a website earn thousands of backlinks ?

Hello,

One of my competitors has more than 600k backlinks. How does he get them ?
can we do that manually, asking for linking site by site ? is there an automation process ?

The best way to get thousands of back links is find CMS site platforms in organized lists
and get automated software or bot macro creator to submit to those website platforms automatically in lists
they have all sorts of software being developed for mass link submission here

What I just said is guru's bullshit talk. You shouldn't subscribe to it.

Promote the few amount of quality content you have. Promote as hell, buy quality links from niche-related authority websites, do sponsored posts, make some quality PBNs (if you have the money).
Even with 10 to 20 post insanely promoted, you should get decent traffic.

Try to promote the quality of content and put image to your website that can converts backlinks so can get backlinks
 
Try to get quality links and post your good article on niche relavant websites. Update your content and promote it. Use Infografic to outreach.
 
For making this amount of backlinks, you have to use some robots or backlink services, and usually most of them is spam backlink.
it is impossible to get this any number of backlinks in the natural way.

No, manually asking for links won't even get you anything near that amount. The only websites that can have so many natural backlinks are the biggest publications (nyt, CNN, bbc, etc) that have been getting backlinks probably since the 90s.

Try broken link building method just try to contact a webmaster and try reporting broken links on that particular page. on the other hand recommend other websites to replace that links at same time mention your own link along with that. Surely they will cos you are doing them a favor by reporting broken links.
 
always check for domains not backlinks
backlink domains.
Single website can give you 1000s of backlinks if the website is broken :)

Quality content drives tons of traffic.
A helpful content do market itself. When a content is loved by thousands, it will be at least shared by 10% of people.

When it is loved by millions, then do the math.

Do market the content by yourself too, in terms of blog promotion such as PPT sharing, document sharing, content curation modules, web 2.0, etc. Expose your content so it reach millions.
 
People love to share your links if you have awesome content and really providing value. But for the backlink profile, always check number of referring domains.
 
Add quality content and videos. Try to use original images not shutterstock etc.
