how can a site with new domain and 0 backlinks rank as #5 for a 12k exact search keyword!?

    Hey all,

    i am trying to rank for a 12k exact searches (and 60k global) keyword, and when i check the competition i see this guy at #5 - how is that even possible ?!

    Is it a new site? if yes it can be just dance.
    If not, low competition = it's possible.
    If competition is medium, it can be some new Google algorithm change as I experienced the same for a keyword with more than 30k exact local searches.

    That does seem a bit odd. Maybe he is using a 301 redirect from another site and pointing all his backlinks to that site?

    Yeah - agree with the previous post - could be a redirect from another domain giving it the link juice.

    301 redirect. Or the links are not indexed in YSE. YSE calcualte www.domain.com and domain.com as different. So, it can that issue.
