I've learned numerous Blackhat methods from my friends here on Black Hat World and I was wondering how do I know where that blurry line between unethical and illegal is at? For example is it illegal to bait and switch a free ipod with a cpa offer while using internet sites such as craigslist and backpage? Also can I go to jail for theft if I cookie stuff someone? I just want to get started earning real money for a change but at the same time I really would like to avoid going to jail. Any feedback would really be appreciated.

haha kinsey, i heard from your "friend" about tis dilemma that you hav. to be honest BH is more unethical than illegal. 90% of stuff here would in the unethical section.

almost 80 of all BH stuff involves tricks to cover your ass, if you can do that you'll be fine.

maybe you can teach me that wordpress metod that your "friend" taught you and i'll make the money.

I've heard so many different things just wish someone would give a strait answer. I know I might face risks of being sued or what have you and I accept that as an acceptable risk. I just am super duper scared of jail. In my blackhat education I learned how to cover my tracks but I know that even if I cover every track I might get caught by someone tattling on me and I just want to be absolutely certain I won't get locked up.

F.Y.I. I'm talking about Iframed offers, ssm type things and like fake job stuff.

fuck knows to what degree that stuff is illegal, because nobody gives a shit. some things sure can be considered fraud.

but you sure as hell wont go to jail for something like this lol, you might go to jail for stealing 130 million credit card numbers, but not for offering an ipod which doesnt exist ;)

If you abuse SSM type of stuff and piss off the advertisers, they can take legal action and sue you for huge amounts. As long as you stay under the radar though, it should be fine. They won't go after a couple of K, I'm talking about much bigger numbers. Same goes for iframed offers.

Fake job stuff is unethical, but not illegal. It might however, be illegal to ask job applicants for a credit report. I don't think you should be concerned though.

well this is one of those things that if you are that worried about it you need to talk to a lawyer not a message board. As of right now online ad laws are way more lenient than offline marketing. This however does not mean that if the wrong person came across your offer, that they could not rain down a shit storm on you. I don't really see a need to worry about that with most basic bh methods, however always cover your tracks, even if it seems like overkill just do it. File an llc, fake the ref even if you don't think you need to, etc. but for what it's worth I would not worry about it assuming your not committing outright fraud (you should know the difference).

If your gona go down that road you gota cover your tracks, mix in some WH traffic with it as well. As iframed offers mostly do not get you a check but a kick in the ass from the CPA networks.

CS'ing is technically Illegal and technically Fraud BUT there is no legal precedent - so no one has actually gone to jail for this

But if you ask Shawn Hogan if its a good idea to stuff a million people with the same link he'll probably say no ;)
