I'm new to SEO and I've been working on my two blogs to rank on serp. However, I'm thinking of buying old expired backlinks and I would love suggestions from BHW to learn how best to drive traffic with it

301 redirect expired domains with traffic to your domain.

With 301 redirect you are going to have all the link juice towards new domain. You should check if your Apache installation includes apache module mod_rewrite. If it has then you can utilize it well for 301 redirect.

If you buy expired domains that have incoming backlinks or traffic to them, you can set up those expired domains to do a 301 redirect to your primary website. You will benefit from the backlinks, traffic, and pagerank of the expired domains.

You can make this even better by buying backlinks or building high-quality backlinks of your own. The links you build and the traffic they generate will pass on to you.

It’s easy to setup and simple to get running. Sometimes, you might suffer any lingering penalties from the old domain. So, focus on the domain history while buying expired domains.

And, one thing is to buy the site that is relevant to your business.

When it comes to links, a link from a high-value site in your niche is great but a link from a high-value site unrelated to your niche is awful. The same thing is at work here.

If you’re buying up a health site URL to redirect to your domain on poker, those links are going to be valueless.

Jesus just no 301 redirects again. Don't do any 301 redirects unless you have super strong domain with super niche relevancy. So just don't listen to people who have no idea what they are talking about and have been on the forums since yesterday. 301 is not what it used to be, it's hard to make it right and many times it comes down to luck whether it will work or not, so no, don't bother for now. Unless you have $300 to spend on a stronger and super niche relevant domain that you know is clean.

Always start with PBNs. For $300 you can have 4 - 6 domains fully built. It's safer and more long-termish. 301 is for people who believe they will rank #1 overnight when they redirect RD15 domain. It doesn't work like that.
