    Hi there people

I know that there are a lot of Indians on this forum. I am one too. I am thinking about starting an online business where I will sell various health supplements through an online portal to customers in India.

The problem however is that RBI guidelines prevent the major credit card merchant service providers from accepting payments for health supplement products.

So, there is essentially no way to accept credit card and debit card payments. Is there a workaround for this. I will be selling legitimate products sold by authorized incorporated companies in India but need to be able to take credit card payments. PayPal is not big in India.

What is a strip business? I have tried even American credit card payment processors and they all deny services for health supplements in India. It sucks. Would still like to hear from someone here. I am sure there is a way around this.

Hey, Online Health Supplements always come under "High Risk" business, so you need to search for some High Risk Merchant Account provider who can accept pharmacy business.

All the relible credit card processing companies will never approve your business, like paypal, 2checkout etc.

High risk merchant account providers will offer you a third party payment gateway with something like 9% - 12% discount rates, 10% rolling reserve and payments almost after 3 - 4 weeks.

They will also ask for business documents, your passport copy and other identification documents as well as to register your company in any european country or in any offshore country.

Last thing that i must warn you, never trust these third party payment gateways, they always shut down your account within few months and scam you with all that 10% rolling reserve as well as 4 - 5 weeks payments, so be careful to do thorogh investigation before working with any of the payment gateway.

I hope you will find out this information useful :)

Thanks guys for all your replies. It looks like a really risky business as any of these payment gateways can pull out any time. I guess I should have done more research before getting into this business. Spent about $400 on websites, custom shopping cart etc. A company called EBS took up my application and then bailed out at the last minute which is why I posted this thread. CC Avenue told me up front that they won't be able to help.

If I find a good alternative, I will post it here.

Do you have any personal experience with them. I haven't heard about them in the past. It would be nice if I could see an Indian business already using their gateway.

Hi there mate. Yes, there are a few companies using CCavenue but the company told me that they will be discontinuing their services to these companies that sell health products. CCavenue will continue to provide a few options but it will be some very unpopular ones such as Diner's club, SBI net banking, ITZ cash and some other unknown payment options. They will be stopping Visa, Mastercard and most of the popular netbanking options quite soon. At least, that is what they told me. I don't know if I am getting bluffed.

International payment processing and courier services will not approve your business as it is in 'high risk category'. You need to find similar merchants in your business and ask them for help. It's hard to get payment processor and courier company for dropshipping etc, no matter where you live in this world. Always find a competitor in your niche and see what he/she is doing for business. Most of the competitor will surely route you to such services.

This sucks. I am not too keen on routing payments through another site as it is just illegal and it will probably land me in a lot of trouble in the near future. I am still looking for some alternatives. I will post back if something works out.
