I've had great success with another hotel affiliate program, although I was JVing and it was my partners idea. I'm trying new things with it and I'm hopeful. If you want examples take a look at this site and it's network - http://www.phoenixhotels.info/

Is it your site? Or is it the affiliate provider site?
How you do this JV thing?
I have many hotels at my town, planing to do some work with them also.

The site isn't my site, it's a competing site. I believe they use booking.com. And a JV is a joint venture, a friend had an idea and needed me to code a program for it.

What kind of work are you going to be doing for them, SEO, advertising on your sites, something else? Because it might be difficult if you set up a site like the one in the link, they get their information from the site with which they're affiliates (booking.com) and it would be hard to advertise for both a specific hotel in your area and the hotels which are part of booking.com (or whatever website you want to be an affiliate with).

In fact I have 2 things I want to do.
I life in Bali, Indonesia. There are many local people here looking for hotel information in other part of Indonesia.
I have good experience ranking for websites using Indonesian language. I want to make a website and promote the hotels via agoda.com. Surely I will only targeting local people.
    That was my 1st plan
The 2nd was, to make a website to promoting private villas in Bali with specifies keywords. Like : "private villas in seminyak"
than find those villas and ask commission for orders that is made from my web or offer the add space on my web or other thing.

Still waiting for some responses to decide what would be the best.

Do you target specific places for keywords?
How much you can earn in 1 month with agoda?

In my opinion it would be easier to make a general site about hotels in Indonesia or a city in Indonesia. Private villa's would be very targeted, it would probably offer more money, but it would be hard to get that traffic. I don't think many people search for private villas in a specific area in Indonesia unless they know the area very well, in which case they most likely wouldn't be tourists and therefore wouldn't have as much money.

But in the end its your choice and it wouldn't hurt to test them both, ranking for "private villas in seminyak" wouldn't be too hard I don't think - but "bali villas" gets a lot more searches on google (14.8k from the google keyword tool).

Instead of going with a affiliate program, i would set up the site about your village, go visit the hotel & villaowners and charge them a monthly fee to advertise on your site or get a 10% from every booking made. You have to feel what works. Some owners are ok with a monthly/anual charge and some want to advertise for free and only pay 10% on every booking made from your site (what is sometimes a lot more then a montly fee)

Private villa's owners are people who mostly don't have time to rent and market their property so there you step in. Choose a region or place that has a lot of private villas and try to get one owner to sign up, the others will follow easy after. Setting up a site like this takes time but a 10% cut from someone who stays a week on NewYear in a luxurious villa can bring you some nice $$ ;)

Let people fill in their email and name on a form on your site and send them some newsletter with info and hotel/villa offer every month.

Why would you go with an affiliate program and only get a little bit of the comission they earn and take it all.

Edit: You should also contact taxi owners, local attractions, ... in your city and get a cut from them too! Make your site a "one stop shop" so they get everything they need to enjoy your city.

agree with blackouts. if you keep sending traffic to those companies (agoda, booking.com, etc) one day your visitors would skip your site and go to those sites directly whenever they want to make another order.

but if you offer something different then most likely people would keep coming back to your site

-> blackouts: have you had an experienced with those JV? It's a great idea, but I'm a bit confused with the auto tracking system later. If there's a visiotr book a hotel from our web. How should the hotel know we send them the traffic so we can get a bit % from the revenue? Is the hotel should provide the tracking system itself?

best solution is the one blackouts gave but it offers ad space revenue rather than affilliate income so you'll have to convince them that they will earn some money from your traffic... also because travel offers are mostly seasonal you should charge them per year or season not per month...

there is no way to track the conversions because most of the booking is done offline (via phone). whenever i want to book a room at a hotel i call to make reservations rather than use their website platform.

I'm not sure about the affiliate part, but I know for sure that Agoda has a wonderful and affordable set of apis for travel website.

first I would say that it is very hard to make good income from hotel affiliates, make huge money from hotel booking sites very possible for big travel portals, like tripaadvisor.com, tophotels.ru, expedia etc, huge travel forums and reviews, big social groups as well can work or any other travel site with huge traffic.

Hotel booking does not work same way as other products, person find what he is looking for and instantly make purchase, with hotel affiliates ppl can plan vacation way before they actually book it, so your sells much depend on cookies, select one which save cookies longer. I handled some good amount of travel niche traffic, I would say that hotel booking should not be your main money stream in travel niche, but I am recommending hotelscombined affiliate programm, converts better then others.

Sure there is money to be made, but I would not say that it is easiest way t make money in travel niche, but I know ppl who make killing with it, both white hat way and black hat by staffing cookies, so it is last forever.
