Hi,
Today I found this:
http://www.host4you.info/hostnine-ip-trick/
Have anyone try it, cause I need hosting with many IP numbers but I don't want to pay a lot for additional IP. I have already Dreamhost but it's sometimes laggy. If this trick with hostnine works, I would be interested in their offert.

"I need hosting with many IP numbers but..." why do you need a lot of IP addresses? linking for traffic and PR?

I have 11 on 7 different c-classes (between 2 servers and 3 hosting accounts 8 are 100% mine, 3 are shared), and link referring between sites on them? does not work any great 'magic'...definitely helps, but just not as some would lead you to believe! do not get me wrong it helps, but I feel it is best for getting the ball rolling.

if you really need to create IP referral 'juice' on your own? just get free accounts at some of the good to better free hosting companies?
Code:
[I]987mb.com[/I] <- banners, remove/upgrade for $2.99/month
[I]000webhost.com[/I] <- no ads, and curl & GD are 'on', 5 MySQL
[I]freewebs.com[/I] <- ads, but gone with upgrade...some cool community
tools, can use their subdomain, 'custom' set up so no scripts but theirs
[I]free.prohosting.com[/I] <- no ads, also no MYSQL (have solution below),
can use their subdomain, upgrades basically? lame!
[I]hostinglagoon.com[/I] <- no ads, you 'pay' by taking surveys and looking at offers.
[I]x10hosting.com[/I] <- some nice options, but kooky rules! sites must be in
English, Spanish, or French? php has some functions 'off' - best use? paying
to run ads on the 'free' websites!
[I]bravenet.com[/I] <- ads, no MySQL, low b/w...upgrades are too much $$
[I]zendfree.com[/I] <- no ads, but you have to join their forum...which HAS
   ads...otherwise pretty good
[I]dhost.info[/I] <- looks good, no ads but another forum join site, must have
   1 'visitor' a week

*-> the last 2 require you to join a forum, but they are 'follow' links in the name signature? may be of some use though NONE have any PR.

there are a lot of others, and I am sure a few BHW members will chime in with recommended sites.

as many of these sites have no, or limited MySQL? you need a CMS that uses an alternative 'flat' (text) database "txtSQL"

this is a cool one that I tripped across...
site:
Code:
http://www.cmspal.com
go for the 'pro version' on MediaFire -
Code:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1xttu9xzxmt

it comes with a weird 'exe' that wants to ftp to your service/server. so ignore the directions about that! I had the exe put the files into a folder, and that is what you get...

this is a low horsepower CMS, and with no MySQL? works well on these free low CPU hosts.

maybe this will help with your linking plans...

why go with "free accounts" like f**hosta limited filesizes and BAD hosting (never seen a good free hoster).... if you can get a good reseller hoster with ONE account. I am lucky, two weeks ago they even had a 50% off coupon and i got in..now they only give you %25 off FIRST month... but still way better than dealing with multiple free accs. My $0.02

"I need hosting with many IP numbers but..." why do you need a lot of IP addresses? linking for traffic and PR?

I need it for SEO to buil some "normal" sites for backlinks to my main sites. If you have everything on the same IP it is not as valuable for google like on different IPs.

I have a reseller account with hostnine and you get what you pay for!
Cheap hosting=laggy severs cos they have to pack them in
But it ok for small static sites

I think some of you missed the fact that 'carnagge' said "I do not want to pay a lot" - so I was trying to give some ideas along those lines. i.e. how to get more 'c' class IPs to use to link to a site or sites for little money.

personally (as I stated) I have my own IPs, so I do not need to go this route...but if money is an issue? then you have little choice. sometimes when you are starting out you have to use 'time' as a currency until you have the money to drop on certain things.

otherwise going the multiple bookmarking sites for IP related links is free (but time consuming without a tool). and if your bookmark others site(s)? you will get people bookmarking you back. this I feel is a better use of your time than making a bunch of junk sites to point at your 'real' site.

what tool do you use?

Point taken rhino
But it seems a lot of guys want a free lunch as far as servers and IP are concerned
Both cost money so if you are using hosting of any kind it has to be paid for
People have to rent the servers to meet there sites needs
And as said putting up a lot of crap sites on different c class IP will not hack it
Why no one sets up a web ring here for linking I don't know would save all this bookmark/blog hunting.

Hi all!

rhino - (Location: a serene mountaintop? I'd love to know where THAT is! :) ) Thanks for the info (and Thanks button hit) but we've drifted somewhat from Carnagge's original question. Has anyone tried the hostnine trick? For $20 a month it's a little costly, but it seems that if you go online and manually change your settings, it can allow you a presence on 100 different IPs.

I would really like to hear from someone here if it works and how much effort is required.

Thanks for any assist! :)

rhino -

Also, I wanted to thank you for the CMSPal app.! I see you have some experience with it. How do you like it? Could you give, like, a mini-review or something of it? Other than the download page, I don't see a lot of info.

Thanks if you get a chance, and so-kay if you don't.

Cheers! :)

did not mean to ignore this thread...had things set to 'not' subscribe! a few different things were asked...sorry if this goes loooooooong:D

-> CMSPal works for just throwing up a quick site...not using MySQL is a benefit as it will run on the 'free' hosts that do not give you database access. looked into this little script...seems it was originally 'superm1n1cms'-com (change the 1 to i) cooky thing is that the site is still up, but the domain of the owner is offline? so not a clue if CMSPal is actually pirated (and renamed) OR if the opposite is true? did the program go PLR - MRR from yet another site? in any case it seems a 'lost' CMS!

don't really care as it works really well for a quickie site! the RSS feed you can add to RSS submission sites, easy adsense (and others integrated). fast, nice looking, a decent feature set. just the thing for the blackhat on the go!

-> multi IP - works and does not work...the idea being that part of your PageRank is influenced by having many sites (not on the same IP) linking (recommending/voting) to your site. the big misconception is to build...well shit-sites! these will not get index highly, not get traffic, and not develop PR of their own past 1 (IF that!) so their influence on traffic and PR ends up being negligible. it WILL work if the mini-sites are: highly targeted, and have really good content. some good examples: sites that have a tool like a color picker, lists of good expiring domains, reviews of the latest great WP plugs, free articles on "how to...", etc -> now link these back to your main site and you are in business.

the 'trick' is still to get mulitple IPs running, and that can really only happen with spending some money. for bang for your IP?
Code:
http://www.seo-host.com
$19 is not cheap for only 50gig of bandwidth, but 5IPs over 5 classes. good for 5-7 blogs. lowest price I have found for multi IP.

otherwise break out the $$ for your own server! or just wait until your efforts can pay for it. most come with 5 IPs...just ask if you can have 2,3,4 different ones (2 need to be in the same class for the servers 'name', but the other 3 do not! though they will be somewhat near geographically. think about it! you can not have a server with 3 IPs in the US and 2 in say germany) so even with a server you are constrained a bit.

the thing is this: I have been doing a LOT of research into how the hell PRank actually works (did you know it is named after google exec Larry Page?) (found a site by a math professor, who was interested in the math used for the calculation...the site is gone, but can put together what I saved from the site...if I get say 20PMs that would like the info) there is more here
Code:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank#Algorithm
OWwwwie! head crushing math!

1) keep in mind that pages inside you site(s) have their own PRank. so you can actully get your PR + for the front page by playing with 'nofollow' internally.
2) PRank is updated only every 2-3 months!!! so it can take some time to see if all of this is working
3) high PRank does not guarantee that your site will move up in the search engines.
4) no evidence that PRank has any effect on the other engines

I know it is posted somewhere but here is a cool plug 4 controlling this flow inside WPress
Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/157892274/WP_SEO_Sniper.zip
now this version may eventually 'break' with WP2.7 (as many plugs are it seems)...think this version is from may 2008. they actually have a free version that is always up to date
Code:
http://www.wpseosniper.com/seo/free-seo-plugin/
this may be a better option as the 'pro' version requires editing your WP template to get all of the features to work. this one makes the links from your blog 'categories' be "nofollow". so your index page will no 'leak' over to the category posts, but the posts will pass PRank on the link back to the top/homepage

looking all of this over you can see that this can be a lot of work. all I can say from experience is that setting up a few 'feeders' sites with attractive content that you use to direct traffic to the $money$ sites is well worth the effort, but going hog wild with any more than 10,12, 20 max IPs is just too much work for the return. that is why I am putting more time into the social bookmarking...which bring me to

-> book marking tool? I have tried a lot, and I really love SocialBot
Code:
http://www.incansoft.com/IS0028.php
this will not auto-create, BUT once you sign up? it will handle it all from there (on supported sites) btw- (this is NOT crackable! so do not ask, it checks its activation code every time it is run...buy it! it is worth the money) go to the site and see all of what it does.

hope that covers some of the questions...some on topic, some off.

take care, and hope you were good this year and Santa treats you well
