Cant decide between Hostmonster / Bluehost / Hostgator.

Hostmonster is only $5 / month I think. I get very confused at why they all claim unlimited bandwidth etc. then you read a load of p1ssed off customers because its obviously not.

Any advice would be handy I want to set up approx. 50 autoblogs with minimal sh1t.

    Many thanks in advance?

Of the three hosts you mentioned only HostGator is worth a crap. I've tried HostMonster and BlueHost and unless all you're hosting is static web pages I wouldn't even bother. HostGator on the other hand, is adequate (albeit pricey) hosting and has decent tech. support.

It really all depends on what you plan on doing with your hosting account.

Some hosts don't care what you do while others question every file that gets ftp'd to your site.

I figure the easiest way would be to find others that are doing what you intend and ask them who they host with.

I've had good success with hostazar....just happened to be the one I started with though. Don't like godaddy though.

be aware that gator will suspend your web site if you upload a file they deem, "suspicious".
that's why i plan on moving to another host.

When hostgator states 20% off your order for coupons is that 20% off for the first month or 20% off every month?

Apologies in advance for the stupid question...

    :)

I'm pretty sure that HostMonster and BlueHost are the same company.

You are correct although they are differently branded.

Not sure if they are any good. I know WP recommend them.

20% off applies to first order...so if you do a monthly plan, it just gives 20% off first month, if you do annual, it comes off total.

I generally like bluhost but I got a tech support that was ferverently religious and he let it be known that bhost was based in utah and they will uphold utah state law and implied that utah state law is g-rated.
I still host some sites with them but I keep this in mind when I decide what kind of content I will put on a site.

something else to consider is the type of content you'll be hosting.
many hosts don't permit adult content and they will kill your account if you
put up a naughty picture. some hosts won't even let you *link* to adult sites.

i know that ace-net doesn't allow adult sites, and gator doesn't allow proxies.
make sure you read the fine print before you sign up. or you may find your web
    sites are all suspended.

Just thought I would chime in.

Didn't read the rest of the replies but when I first started I used a very basic GoDaddy hosting and domain package and it was horrible.. I found it very limited as to what I could do with it. Host Gator is the best.. not opinion.. fact :) Anyone who thinks otherwise's opinions ARE WRONG!

    Host Gator=#1!
