I made a post already about this but I didn't give enough detail..

I have a image based website that gets good increasing traffic daily. I want to save a bit on hosting fee's.

My plan is to get an account at Google Drive ($10 a month for 200GB of storage but you can get more or less) and host all my images on there (i have alot of big images!) and get a vps account with namecheap for the day to day running of the site.

Then simpley upload images to my blog via the "from url" function on wordpress.

Will this stratagy help with bandwidth costs? is there a better system out there? how does cloud hosting work and have i just explained a system similar to cloud?

    many thanks in advance

Yes, it will definitly help with bandwidth cost. You wouldn't use the VPS's bandwidth at all for the images.
You'll also earn in loading time as you would load more elements simultaneously and benefit from Google Drive bandwidth.

You could also consider a VPS with a 1 gbps port, and unmetered bandwidth.

Grab yourself a cache program, you can then present visitors with a daily updated cache of the site, instead of them creating multiple requests every visit.
