Hosting 101 The bad and good

I have numerous BANS sites on hostmonster. Great service anytime I needed it, and no problems for over 1 year with numerous other sites on it.

Haven't used HostGator, yet.

Use 1&1, no problems so far...

I've been using LiquidWeb. They are a little pricey, but they have great service.

I'll say this: BURST.NET SUCKS.

I gave them $100 to start a hosting account. Nine days later, they charged me another $80. I canceled their services 11 days in, and they refused to refund me any of the money I paid them, even though they have a refund policy in their TOS. I'll probably have to sue them to get the money back.

You can hardly ever get anyone on the phone there in any department, either. Avoid Burst.net like the plague.

Just my two penneth, as i have been with a few differnet providers, both shared and vps.

VPS

slhost.com - Good service, great support, did have a problem though when they updated my cPanel and took my shit down. That was the end of them, but they're actually quite good.

vt6.co.uk - Absolutely fucking awful. 5 days to get dns issues resolved, several more days to get ftp access, server goes down for 24 hours, 25 days in everything goes, no access at all, write to support to get resolved, write back saying they can now access whm. I can go to ip:2086, but doesn't accept password or anything. takes 24 hours for everything to appear, inlcuding my site. vt6 get dumped, then vt6 spend 2 weeks threatneing me with courts for not paying bills on my cancelled account. Oh, and tgheir support even reply with "I have no record of you cancelled account" not any other words! Eventually someone says we have your cancellation and will deal with it. Cunts.

solarvps.com - Love them, great, great, great. might cost a bit more, but worth it just for their super nice and reliable support.

futurehosting.biz - Haven't been with these long, but fuck me backwards and call me bryan, they're so efficient i wondered whether they were operated by robots. Or maybe Volkswagens? I'm really crazily impressed with these guys, time will tell though.

1and1... I'd like to think i needn't say more, but some poor people still end up with them. They're grossly overpriced and if you do find you actually need support, i'd suggest not picking up the phone or sending an email, but popping down to your local Debanhams and buying a bra. With Underwires if your chesticles have a touch to much weight.

Hostmonster/bluehost... I've heard horror stories, but haven't yet had any real problems, compared to 1and1 though, it's like going to a gelateria, ordering icecream and it being served to you on Cindy Crawford.

Meirhosting - Never had a problem and really love the smoothness of everything. What i mean is hostmonster is a bit of a pain to log in for instance, there's alot of shit kicking around, meir are just, there. It's where you want it and it works.

Primehosting - Same as above ad love their support, they stuck zend and a few other things on my package for me within about 30 minutes of asking. That's the way it should be.

Don't think there's anymore, but if you take anything from my longwinded review, steer clear of 1and1, and i would say vt6, but i'll give them the benefit of the doubt because alot of people sing their praises and i coulda just got a rough deal.
