Level 9 VPS of hostgator costs over 200$/month, as i can see basic dedicated server costs 174$/month. Dedicated has 10TB of bandwidth, while VPS has 3150 GB. Obviously VPS has little better CPU. Dedicated has 500GB of space, while VPS over 200GB.

    So which one is better?

By the way anyone in here is using level 3 VPS of hostgator? it costs almost 50$/month, so i would like to see if anyone has any experience when it comes to sites speed compared this level 3 VPS vs shared hosting for 12$/month.

Basically as far as i know you can reach around 10-20GB of bandwidth daily with shared hosting and you won't be having any problems with them, so basically with level 3 VPS you get 500GB of bandwidth which is less than 20GB/day.

You know that if you get a VPS, you only get a fraction ("fair share") of the CPU power - you don't get to use the full CPU resources.

The only reason why you need a VPS over shared hosting is mainly going to come down to CPU usage. On a VPS, the provider can limit to how many cores you can utilise, where shared hosting there isn't any limit of how much CPU one user can utilise.

In terms of a VPS vs Dedicated, the provider has to make a little profit, so thats why the margin on a big VPS is more than a whole server. When you get a VPS your paying for the virtualization management software (most likely SolusVM) and the management of the whole server itself, as they are responsible for getting everything running where with a dedicated server - your in charge.

Anyway those VPS's are seriously overpriced at Hostgator, same with their Dedicated Servers. You will find much cheaper (and better) VPS's elsewhere. Here's a couple to check out:

I don't use Hostgator, I am using another company for my VPS servers...
Anyway, if you can't decide VPS or DEDICATED, go for a DEDICATED one, dedicated servers are way much better then VPS's.
But for my opinion don't go for Hostgator, just find another company that will give you the same service or maybe a better service for a lower price...
Just take a look at webhostingtalk reviews and see what you can find
