So all of a sudden all of my websites (hosted with Hostgator) lead to a suspended page :o

What. The. Fuck?!

I contacted support. But how can they do that? I'm a paying customer. They didn't send me an email or nothing, just all sites down. If I hadn't checked I wouldn't have known.

Duuuudes

These people do this allll the time to their clients.

I've been with them for 6 years, this is the first time this happened.

But how can they do this all of a sudden out of the blue, no warning no notification no email. Come on man...

No dude mine did it too today!

Same as you.

They said my site was causing power outputs to spike and causing overload because of the exodus of traffic coming in.

Hostgator sucks

Never use that company's service, ever...

The email they sent me:

It has come to our attention that there are large amounts of what appears to be unsolicited bulk email originating from an account under your control. Our Zero Tolerance Spam Policy is outlined in our Acceptable Use Policy. This policy must be followed by all users on our network and upon an investigation of this account, it was determined that it is in violation of our Zero Tolerance Spam Policy. A further review of your account reveals that you are only using our services to send unsolicited bulk email. Due to the severity of this issue, we have been forced to immediately suspend access to this account. Please let us know if you have any questions

I actually send emails to my list once per month. The list is my customers and members of various websites. Altogether it's less than 2,000 emails, and I send like a newsletter once per month.

What's unsolicited? Like emailing without permission? No, these are my customers and members.

And how can they just throw a ban like that? Just shut my site down before I could blink. No warning, no chance to state my case and explain myself? What is this? Wow.

Someone complained about your spamming so they shut down your account.. Nothing you can do about it then to just move on to another host.

Ok, they restored my sites. I am not sending a single unnecessary email from my hosting account ever again.

This should be a wake up call. It's one thing to contact me about a problem, talk about it, and then ban me if you want but give me a few days to find new hosting and migrate my sites. But to just flip a switch and shut everything down like that, that's nasty.

It's not spamming. It's a newsletter to my customers and members. Spamming is something else. Every single email in my list is a previous customer or website member.

But of course, I surely have competitors in there too, and it wouldn't surprise me if any of them complained.

In any case, Hostgator did not handle this correctly.

I guess it's time to switch to a VPS like others are saying. I am having similar problems as you but with another provider. A few weeks ago they shutdown my site without any notification and now the site randomly goes down from time to time.

Servers are lot cheaper for the price of shared you will get VPS , and install VestaCP which is open source good panel to handle unlimited sites.
Good Luck

Which VPS would you recommend? I'm honestly looking for the cheapest option to get everything running. I am managinng 2-3 sites and I'm losing out on conversions because the site goes down a few times a day.

Man, I literally just migrated all my websites a month ago, I am REALLY NOT in the mood for another move.

I'll stay where I am for now. I won't send any more emails, like my newsletter.

And I made a note to start looking around to diversify my hosting. I already know relying on 1 of anything is bad news. 1 payment processor, 1 email provider, 1 hosting company = you're gonna have a bad time

Oh well, you live and you learn... unless you're dead kid :p

Those suckers post fake positive reviews online about how good they are.

It happens mostly with their tricky system try to show that your sites are using too much resource hmmm. You can go with starter VPS1 and select VestaCP they will setup everything for you 2-3 sites can easily handle those.

Yesterday it was resolved.

Now my sites are all down again, suspended.

But this time they didn't even send me an email as to why, no notification at all.

What's going on here... ufff :/

I'm talking to support
