    Hello,

I am a user of hostgator like many others here and was shocked to know that hostgator was sold for EIG. EIG owns several other hosting and domain registrars. They own bluehost as well.

Now its time to backup our websites etc to avoid any loss of data during data centre migration which usually happens after acquisition.

    Regards

The acquisition took place about a month ago, and there were threads on BHW discussing this when it took place

I don't think they will do something silly to mess up the customers .

Definitely not a good look. First they centralize, then they monopolize then they break our balls.

    Yea, this is very sad.
And then there will be one "ultimate" host who owns everything and can decide the prices however they want.

Looks like most of you guys/girls would be surprised to find out that most products in this world are owned by one large company or the other...

    Home Page:
EIG is a huge hosting conglomerate and they have made several very big acquisitions in the last year or so.

Congrats to the HostGator founders for making that much money!
