hi!, do you know how long it takes to register a new domain with hostgator? I ordered a 6 month hosting and a new domain three days ago, the domain is not registered yet, this is what they told me in live chat, does it makes sense based on your experience? I sent a couple of tickets but they dont respond. I bought a MNS and my vendor needs to set up the site as soon as the domain is rdy

(2:49 am) [Christopher F.] I do apologize for the wait time, at this time I do see the account is in a pending status which all new accounts go though.
(2:50 am) [Luis]: when I do WHOIS to the domain it seems its available, so it is not registered yet
(2:51 am) [Christopher F.] Yes, that is correct, that happens after the pending process. The reason it is taking so much time is because we have had a large number of orders recently that is slowing the process down. Our admins will however get that up and running as quickly as humanly possible.

My guess is this only happens when they review brand new accounts. In the future when you buy domains they'll be immediately yours.

Was your domain setup yet or are you still waiting? This seems like a standard practice at Hostgator for a first domain order.

I finally got an update from them, they asked me to send a photo ID first and when I sent it they refunded the 110 dlls I paid ,mmm well... I will stay away from HG,

the problem was that I signed up at work, they have a proxy I suppose, they want me to sign up again using another internet connection, but I wont because their support is very damn slow, I went to godaddy and made another account and got the domain for free, the domain is working now, it was up and running immediately. HG just made me lose time with them.

    this is their last email

    Hello,

    Thank you for contacting HostGator.

It appears that you have signed up for an account through a data center server, VPN (virtual private network) , or proxy.

Meaning that you signed up using some sort of service that hides you physical, or IP location.

As we do not accept these kinds of accounts, we ask that you please sign up for a new account using your own IP address.

We have voided the payment authorization for $110.60 which will reflect in your account within the next 48 hours. If you paid with a credit card, it may take 5-7 business days for the pending charge to be voided in your bank account.

We only need to see your location with your initail sign up and payment. Once you have that first payment from your actual IP location, you can continue to use the VPN, proxy, data center server, or IP service of your choice.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
