I know theres been a lot of threads about HostGators affiliate program and they all say keep away from them. But Is any one actually being paid by them? Whitehat of course. Because im sure they must be paying some people if they stick to the TOS. Like having a web hosting review site that would be a legit method.
Any insight in to this would be great thanks!

Its legit and you can make money from them as the threads have shown ppl doing so ,but a review site is a very saturated way of getting affiliates from what I have seen. I think the best bet is to offer a "free site" like earlier threads have talked about or buying your own hosting and making up your own price. I think the latter one is better because you don't have to worry if they are going to stick around long enough for hostgator to credit you and you can't break tos if your the boss. I think posting it on some classifieds would be helpful or they do have a refer someone for a job option which can be quite lucrative so you might want to look it that. Sorry for the long message but see how it goes.

Affiliating directly through Hostgator is lots better than affiliating with them through CJ. You're able to track more of your referrals through Hostgator's affiliate panel so HostGator CJ won't scrub your leads. I remember I've been rejected from HostGator via CJ because I've had 50+ leads with most of them fraud. They weren't gonna pay any of them out until I told them I know some that are actual active happy clients, so they paid me for one or two leads. With the panel from HostGator you can see who's actually active and who paid. $50 is better than the risk of getting nothing or $100.

I'm a direct affiliate and have been paid fine from them. Send them "real" customers and you will get paid. Send them blackhat sales and they will catch you and not pay you.

I was doing a little promo for them where I setup some sites for people in return they would buy hosting through me. Not sure why but one of them got taken away from me on CJ and they were all people I knew and they still have the sites that I setup hosted on HG. I got paid for all but one which still kinda pissed me off because they are giving HG money and that's who I sent them to, I'm half tempted to just setup a reseller account and take them all for myself but I don't want to deal with people calling me every time they have an issue.

I would recomend going through CJ for them though, you get $40 more per sign up from what I hear. Other than not getting paid for one I think they're great.

I've been a HG affiliate for a few years now and I've been paid for the people that signup and and keep it after 60 days. So I have no problem with them paying. I've gotten checks and now I get paid via paypal. If I remember correctly, around 70% of my leads stay past 60 days and I get paid. So, yes, I'm a happy camper with HG! :D

I am affiliate thru HG itself NOT CJ. CJ is such a pain with everything. The only reason I use CJ for anything is that I have a few things still with them that are still paying. Otherwise I'd dump CJ.

I run straight through HostGators affiliate program directly also. I've been paid everytime for about a year now.

I can't criticize CJ's HostGator program, because I've never tried it, so I don't know.

When do they pay their affiliates? Weekly, monthly or what?

They pay I think after a month or two after your customer first signed up to vertify that it isnt just a .01 quick sale/scam
