Recently I was testing a mailing script using a HG VPS, sent out about 5k pieces while I was tuning it up and below 500 pieces an hour, and they sent me this:

It has come to our attention that an account under your control is sending a large volume of mail to a high number of unique recipients. This is usually indicative of either spam activity, or a mailing list. While the mails per hour at this point do not yet exceed the 500 emails per hour limit as defined by our mail policy, we still need to ensure that these mailings are not spam and are opted-in mailings which the recipients have indeed subscribed for and want to receive. Keep in mind the only type of lists we allow are Confirmed Opt-In or Double Opt-In Mailing lists. No other type of mailing list is allowed on our servers(this includes any e-mail list which someone may have sold to you promising that it was a confirmed opt-in list). Any mailing list larger than 5,000 addresses will require a dedicated server or VPS hosting solution from us. (Note: Dividing one large list into smaller lists to get below this limit is not allowed.) ect ect

My list was a double opt-in list too. This was about 12 days ago....so it appears they are watching for it. Hope this helps.

    Dang..

I was about to try hostgator... but instead went for aweber...
just because they have great webforms...

but I guess HG would have rained on my parade.

I was sure they would not mind the below 500 an hour rate...

    but now they are picky.

Man that sucks! Why do they tell you to get a VPS when you already have one.... HG can be retarded. I only like them because I've never had trouble getting mail delivered, but some of the smaller companies seem to give you ips that were spammed to high water.
